In an unexpected move, I got the Renegade Strike Force for christmas. Now I can finally get started on a chaos army. The question is, where to go from here?
I like everything that comes in the strike force, so I'm going to try and incorporate all of it into my lists.
The first 2 additions I already know I want are a sorcerer and some berserkers. That will give me something nasty to put in that landraider.
I also already have a box of raptors I bought for cheap at last year's gamesday. 5 raptors isn't exactly threatening though, and they only come with 1 special weapon, so I should probably get more of them too if I want them to be useful.
So as it stands my list would look something like this:
Sorc with wings, terminators (sporting combi-plasmas and a heavy flamer), 2 squads of marines in rhinos, berserkers in landraider, vindicator, and a defiler, and possibly raptors.
I can't show point totals because I'm at work and don't have access to my codex.
After the berserkers though, I'm not sure what I would want to add. I'm thinking maybe noise marines to give my mobile force some fire support.
I think everyone has a different way of determining what they need to make their army more efficient, like me i prefer to play test my army alot before deciding if i need a little speed to cover flank attacks or a little extra punch through the centre.
If you could play test your army and see where you could improve on i think that would be a great start, chaos armies can differ alot so their always a lot of choice out there.
also, im a personal lover of troop choices so i really max out my troops, have you thought of adding more chaos space marines or maybe some different cult troops such as Plague Marines or Emperors Children?
I usually have 6-7 raptors flying around my mounted sorceror - a good buffer. They usually have two special weps, so maybe somehow you could pick up a single one with a special wep from somewhere..
Our lists would then look alike, except I use thousand sons rather than CSM, oblits instead of defiler, and dreads instead of vindicator.. maybe not so similar, hehehehe..
Be nice to your enemies, it will make them madder!
