I'm thinking of picking up the Chaos Battleforce and the Sonic Weapons bitz from GW for my forces. I currently have the Emperor's Children box put together with the sonic blaster, blastmaster and doom siren, but the rest of the marines with just bolters. I'd like to put the other sonic blasters on a squad so I can have a squad of 6 Noise marines with Sonic blasters and one Blastmaster, another squad of Noise Marines with Bolters and a champion with the power weapon and Doom Siren. I would also be including the Khorn Berzerkers in the list, and that's my concern from a fluff standpoint. I'd like to keep the army relatively fluffy, so would follows of Khorne and Slaanesh fight together, or are they too opposed to each other's philosophies?
Eldar Record: 11-8-3
Battle reports, painting and more at Meandering the Dune Sea
well, from a purely fluff point of view, I have always thought of those 2 gods to have a good symbiosis, pain through pleasure for slaanesh, and with pain, comes blood.
however saying that, ive been reading the daemons of chaos codex for fantasy, (which there is no imput on army lists on the forums by the way) and I remember reading something about tzeentch tricking slaanesh into starting a war with khorne and nurgle.
but im far from the authority on fluff, but on the outer aspect the seem to be able to work together
Hey, the Emps children and world eaters worked together in the heresy!
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
I swear Khorne has it out for Tzeenth and Slaanesh - Tzeenth for his magical cowardice and scheming, and Slaanesh for his (her? it's?) exquisite and materialistic ways. This might not be right, but i feel like I've read that somewhere. Maybe it's the old Chaos Codex, I'm gonna check right now.
Oh, yeah, in the old Codex is says:
"The antithesis of Khorne is SLaanesh. The Blood God rails against his rival's decadence and love of luxury. Where a follower of Khorne conquers through the application of crude, brutal force, a champion of Slaanesh delights in each delicate stroke of the blade, only releasing his victims from his attentions when they are wasted and used. Khorne also finds an opposite in Tzeentch..."
you know I'm doing almost the same thing. I'm doing a three out of my four troops as Noise Marines and the fourth troop choice will be Khorne Berzerkers, but I'm tossing the Khorne heads and I ordered Demonette heads.(witch reminds me I should go check the mail) I going to try calling them Slaanesh Berzerkers until some one calls BS on me.
If you do things right people wont be sure if you have done anything at all.
A Slaaneshi-Khornate Army seems fine with me, I intend to add some Noise Marines to my Crimson Eagle ARmy. The beauty of the CHaos Marine background is that you can pick and choose what you want, all Chaos Marines have two things in common, their love of battle and slaughter, and the fact that they can all be intimidated/manipulated/etc, into serving any powerful Lord of CHaos. Look at the Black Legion! They have Berzerkers, Noise Marines, Plague MArines, even Thousand SOns, led by various Black Legion commanders like Vastakel Khyre and Devram Korda, even Abaddon himself.
Basically whatr I am saying, is that instead of being constricting, the CHaos MArine background has been so well made that servant of Chaos can serve along side another, so long as their gods aren't at war at that time, although sometimes even despite that!
HOpefully this helps, Revan_101
Zabien... wow... they're certainly different.
Technically, I think you'll get most people saying they wouldn't work together. Khorne and Slaanesh being the opposite of each other. This and that. Old man weasel and his magic hat.
All sorts of reasons.
So it depends on what you want to do.
The fluff is nice, and it is cool. But at the end of the day, it's just a game and i think it should be treated as such. You're allowed to do it in the codex, so, if you want to, then you should.
Reality > Make believe.
