Ok. I currently have 2000 points of blood ravens and honestly, I think chaos are much cooler. I am thinking of a nurgle list. I'll probably be converting my marines to chaos.
1. would this work
2. Am I mad to even attempt this?
Hell, just make sure they're using weapons that are in the chaos codex and you can use them for both
Except for the whole non-hedero sons of sanguinius thing they got going. that wouldn't mesh well with CSM, unless you do a slaanesh army :-P
Easiest way to convert them would be to just throw some spikes on them and file off the aquillas.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
As Nhyx said, as long as the wargear fits it shouldn't be a problem using them for both.
Although if you're going for a nurgle force you'll probably want to do more conversions than you can to keep them semi-Blood Ravens. It's definetely possible and shouldn't take TOO much work, but I wouldn't expect them to be interchangable or even easily convertable back.
Yes you're mad, but you have 2000pts of Blood Ravens, so that's pretty much a given
Better yet, just deface the aquilae with a file and a slash of red paint. Space Marine models instead of CSM models is perfectly fine, even for tournaments as they're both GW minis. Just keep it WYSIWYG. If you want to make them Plague Marines then try putting three equidistant dots on their left shoulder pads, or go to the trading forum and make an offer for CSM transfer sheets.
"My tanks have names, my men have numbers." -Col. Edmund Grahvess, 23rd Kronecker Prison Guard
Commander: WE ARE BLOOD RAVENS! WE ARE SUPREME!
Brother seargent: why sir?
Commander: ... umm... WE HAVE BLEACHED BONE ON OUR SHOULDER PADS! AND GET THIS! WE... ARE THE MAIN CHAPTER IN A VIDEO GAME!
"Commander gets a face full of nurgle goo"
Commander: NOW WE ARE DEATH GUARD! WE ARE SUPREME!
Brother Seargent: "Sigh"... Why?
Commander: WE ARE GREEN AND BETTER THEN THE OTHER GODS. SLAANESH; A PROBABLE HOMOSEXUAL. kHORNE; MAD AND RED. HOW I HATE RED! AND TZEENTCH; SHOOTY; ALWAYS HAVE TO BE DIFFERENT, AND... HAVE VERY BAD...
I would like to make the point that my thousand sons have no foot odour, as they have no flesh which may rot, which would cause the putrid stench that seems to emanate from the feet of your filthy plague marines
I was going to suggest something similar to that article for doing your conversions, I just wasn't sure quite how far you were going to take it. Try cutting/boring some holes in the models and filling them in with green stuff surfaced like that.
It's a pretty unorthodox modelling technique, and it wont work well if the models already have a coat of paint, but sometimes spreading plastic glue thinly on a flat surface of a model (say the side of the leg armour or so) waiting for it to half dry, then warping the pseudo-melted surface of the model with some tool or other often works well for me.
I hope that last bit made sense...
thanks. it did.
