I already have a basilisk, defiler, and a dreadnought with plasma and missile launcher. I can't figure out what I should use for my fourth heavy support slot for my Iron Warriors.
I was considering a land raider with termies in it, another defiler, a havok squad with four missile launchers and tank hunter ability(from bornindarkness's Iron Warrior Primer topic), or Vindicator.
Any suggestions are apreciated!
Im a big fan of the vindicator w/ mutated hull, extra amor, and smoke launchers. I am also a big fan of the havocs w/ 4 ML's and tank hunter or 4 autocannons and tank hunter. I would ditch any thought of a land raider, and dont really like the defiler or basilisk. I would drop those for a squad of 6 or 9 havocs and a vindicator. Then with the points that you were going to use in the first place on the fourth heavy slot, I would either get another havoc squad or just more troops.
Depending on your usual opponents, I'd go with either a Predator Destructor with HB sponsons, or your proposed Havoc squad -- the Pred if you face a lot of hordes, 'cos tanks are fluffy and people will yell at you if you take 3 ordnance weapons (trust me, even if it's not cheesy, it will be more fun if your opponent shuts the ***** up and doesn't whine), and the Havocs if your opponents tend to play an equal number of armored and horde armies. I love both options myself. Under 3000 points, an LR with Termies would be entirely redundant -- for IW they're only for fluff, and LRs aren't especially...siege-ish. But it is damn cool.
don't take the landraider, this one can be taken as atransport option for your termies,
I would either suggest the predator or a havoc sqaud, as these are the best all-round troops
The predator's weapon configuration depends on what kind of opponents you will be facing, usually mine are equipped with turret AC or TLC and sponson heavy bolters, this combo gives each predator the advantage of moving 6" and still be able to fire all of it's weapons should the TVr be used and soon the 4th edition.
The second choice, also what other have adviced is a havoc squad, these guys are worth it every thing I field them.
Best is to equip them all either 4 weapons of the same kind or to give then 2 pair of weapons that are of a similair type,
A havoc sqaud with 4 AC or ML is equally good against tanks as against horde armies so pick one of these
the second option is like taking 2 AC and 2 ML, this make still potent against tank if you give them tankhunterskill but with some better anti-infantry.
I usually use the combo of 2 HB and 2AC equipped with tankhunter theis squad can tear trough thanks with ease, people won't expect it form a HB but this way they took out 2 leman russ tanks.
most important to remember with the havocs is that you don't give them LC as they are cheaper when giving to your troops
you don't have to use your last heavy support slot if you are unsure. your can buy more chaos marines with the points (or havocs). but if you really want to use the last slot i would go with havocs
If you don't mind to be called a cheesy player take another defiler... it works! Personally I'd use the havoc sqad w 4 aurocannons and tank hunters skill (good against most vehicles and deadly against eldar, tyranids and IG). Do not take a Landraider, you can have it as a transport choice!

Please do not get annoyed on my spelling: i am not a native speaker...
Well... about half the armies I play have power armour, but I also play an orks, tau, and eldar everyonce in a while.
Go for the Havocs, then.
Definetly the Havocs then, but remember to make the unit big enough so it can take some casualties
