I’m currently looking for a close combat based army and like with all my armies I love to convert it to a certain theme and I came up with an interesting concept for a deamon army.
My idea is to create a Kroot army and base it off a Khrone Deamon army for example arming Kroot warriors with a unique blade weapon gauntlet and modelling some robes on them to make them look elite. (Similar to the guy in the pic below)
As for Bloodcrushers and other monsters I could use some of the stuff from Forgeworld to represent them.
I really would like to have an army of Kroot and since their army list is no longer legal at tournaments I figured I see what codex could work for them best.
Well what do you guys think to my idea, do you think it could work? I thought I'd ask you deamon players before I went any further with the idea.

That sounds like an interesting idea, go for it.
Bloodletters = kroot, Flesh Hounds = Kroot Hounds, Bloodcrushers = Gnarloc Riders, BT/DP = wined Gnarloc or something
It totally works.
Any suggestions for the list then? Just remember the unit has to be convertable to look like one of the kroot beasts so no Bloodthristers.
If I were doing kroot counts-as I would go for Slaaneshi units mostly. Fiends, Daemonettes, and Seekers all fit the kroot very well (fast moving hunters who can't take a punch), but you could definitely get mileage out of the Khorne stuff.
As far as a list goes, Bloodletters and Daemonettes for Troops, Bloodcrushers for a hard anvil unit, and Fiends and Flesh Hounds for speedy units to tie the enemy down. You could even throw in DPs as larger creatures or mounts.
Since Kroot are mercs, they can really have any xenotech out there.
Bloodcrushers: Krootox rider -gun, +big sword
Tzeench Chariot Herald: Shaper riding a Tau drone like a surfboard, pulled by two more drones.
Plague Bearers: Big ass kroot
Bloodletters: Kroot with Tyranid scything talons. Maye they ate some bugs?
Just put some sort of energy field harnes on then to represent the invulnerable saves.
How are you going to represent the fact that Daemon armies deploy purely by Deep Strike? That will be your biggest problem I think. Maybe since Kroot are amazingly awesome at ambush tactics, you could say the Kroot are not deep striking per say, but rather they are ambushing and appearing out of nowhere?
Why couldn't their be a kroot "bloodletter"?
The kroot evolve by what they eat. So, say they ate some primarch flesh and got all beefcaked out?
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
