Has anyone ever tried to house-rule the two codex'es together?
As in treating both books as one big codex?
It seems like logic to me that the two armies should co-exist, at least in the same manner as the daemonhunter/witchhunter + marine/ig codex'es.
This idea sprung from reading and starting both armies, and seeing that the chaos marine codex has daemons, without the daemon special rule (wtf?) that generally suck ass. So I figured it could be fun combining the two.
I'm afraid we get this alot, and quite frankly, it would be WAY too powerful, atleast in my opinion.
I suppose if you want to do it, you could ally them like the WH/DH codex rules, allowing for 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troops, and 1 Fast Attack from Codex:Chaos Daemons in Codex:Chaos Space Marines. Though obviously, you should be asking your local gaming group.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
I can see that some combo's from combining the books would be overpowered.
But in general I think that a list built for fun, rather than tournaments, would be on par with orks/marines, without killing everything.
It's just that the daemons in the chaos marine dex have nothing in the way of character (or rules), and it makes me NOT want to take them, at all, ever.
I think I'll try both ways, having one big dex, and using the inquisition ally rules.
Going with Chaos marines as the main dex, + 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troops, and 1 Fast Attack
from the chaos marine dex
Going with Chaos daemons as the main dex, 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troops, and 1 Fast Attack from the chaos marine dex
Also, obviously, if using the chaos daemons codex to get daemons into a marine list, or marines into a daemons list, then none of the daemons in the marine dex may be used.
This will keep confusion to a minimum (what dex is that daemon prince from??)
And it will be opponent permission yes.
