Anyone know a simple color pattern, maybe 2-3 paints or so for Plague Marines?
Last time I painted some standard Chaos Marines as Plague Marines, I did the following:
- Armour: Calthan Brown
- Trim: Knarloc Green
- Metallic Areas and Piping: Boltgun Metal / Tin Bitz your preference
- Horns: Dheneb Stone
Wash the entire lot with Devlan Mud on the Armour and Trim, Thraka Green on large Metallic Areas like Chainmail.
Paint a lot of them pretty fast like that!

Maybe a medium green, dark green, a metallic like silver or a dark gold, and a brown ink for washing. You can get a lot of mileage out of the two greens and the brown ink will help simulate rust while not contrasting too badly with greens or taking too much effort.
I actually prefer to use a light khaki color to paint bone. I feel it gives a more natural look; maybe it's just me.

I sprayed mine white then painted Gretchin Green (foundation paint ?) then boltgun metal weapons with a brief highlight on the armour of Camo Green. Then I washed the entire model in Devlan Mud. A touch of flesh wash on the metal to represent rust and there you go.
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
Basecoat - Darkangels green
Drybrush - goblin green
trimming - boltgun metal
weapons/extras - bestial brown
And a good healthy wash of devlan mud over the lot.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Basecoat: Gretchin Green
Drybrush: Dehneb Stone
Wash: Thraka Green
Done except for the the guns and trim. I stick to metallics dwarf bronze, and boltgun metal
Don’t be afraid of using Inks on your plague marines, I find that brushing a bit of purple ink on a gaping wound makes it look a little more rotten.
I just read in an older white dwarf about one guy who would flick paint off a tooth brush to create a blotchy look on his plague marines. It looked decent and seemed like it would be fairly easy to do.
Many good ideas! Although for the gaping wound I'd use the gore mixture that's in a GW article. Seems I need to buy some greens and brown - the only ones I ever got were Goblin Green and Snakebite Leather
Thanks for the ideas, I'll see what I'll do.
Drybrush the Whole Model (including guns/metal) Khemri Brown
Drybrush the Whole Model (including guns/metal) Mechrite Orange
Drybrush the Whole Model (EXCEPT guns/metal) the average green foundy paint (catachan?)
Drybrush the metal tin bitz
Drybrush the metal boltgun metal
Wash the whole model in a dirty wash of your choice. Personally I mix Dark Angels Green, Blazing Orange, and Purple Ink with water.
They look horrid =]] I have Scorpion Green coming out of the wounds and eyeholes...
