anyone give any help on what would be a good starting place with chaos it really would help me out and set me a goal
well first you would have to figure out what type of army do you want. are you interested in shooty? Kill? Any particular units or gods tickle your fancy? The chaos codex and make very different lists so an idea of your tastes would be a good starting point.
May the "Nurgley Goodness" protect you!
well as myself i like long ranged heavy power. i was sure i was archer in past life. but i want a tactical army with long range attacks. quite bit of armour if possible

also maybe a tank or two
Just go look through the army lists forum, it'll give you a good idea of where to start out.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
If you're going to be up against other Marines mainly (or you want an army based on killing other marines storywise if you aren't going to be playing) you may want to try out something similar to what I play.
I have little on the expert assault front other than a unit of 5 raptors, My army is almost entirely made up of heavy-weapon toting marines and vehicles.
I'm usually running a predator and a defiler, as well as a squad of 5 havocs with the works. My marine squads have as many plasma weapons as possible and have been modelled holding bolters. One squad generally has a rhino and a personal Icon.
Terminators are great at whatever you gear them up to do.
All that said, two squads of chaos marines (maybe a rhino with one), a chaos lord of some description, and a special unit to suit your tastes (I'd say go for the heavy weapon-wielding havocs) is a good way to start, then build on it from there.
Glad to have a new player, all the best to you.
yeh well basically just started. gonna sell some of better painted eldar if i can to raise some cash. will probably get khorne and squad first just to start then build army from that using this forum
Anyone know of a good paint scheme for chaos.
or any pics of black legion or ironwarriors paint scheme
If you want Iron Warriors, check out Danjones's projects. He is an astounding Iron Warriors painter.
Black legion is easy enough to do. I do it by spraying black, painting the armour Vajello Black grey. Then two fairly heavy coats of badab black ink wash.
for the gold, paint it shining gold, then ink it with devlan mud.
Thats the simplest way to paint black legion.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
I usually carry a very large selection of 40K images with me. However, I'm out of town, so I don't have access to them. I'll try and post some Black Legion and Iron Warriors pictures when I return. Until then, I strongly recommend that you do not go out an purchase any models before thoroughly playtesting our codex. Some of our options perform quite differently on the table-top, as compared to how the look on paper. As well, different combinations bring out the best in certain squads/models, whereas other combos are down right wretched. All this goes to say that it's generally the best to wait on purchases until you have a better grasp of the codex.
