Recently Iíve been trying to come up with a small elite army and ending up creating a monster!
How do you like the idea of 3 units of 5 Bloodcrushers with each one costing the same as a terminator, itís a bargain throw in some heralds to lead each group and youíve got a scary front line that costs around 900pts and will scare your opponent.
What do you think is it...cheesy?
Now I just need to consider what units are best for objective grabbing and taking down fast moving targets? Also don't worry about the cost of the models if I did go through with this idea I'd convert khrone warriors that would dwarf a space marine in size to represent them.
Bloodcrushers are great, they can easily kill most everything
Plaguebearer are our best objective grabber, T5 with essentially a 3+ save is great, a unit of 10 should last for a long time
For speed, i would have suggested fiends but your probably going to be looking at Slaanesh Herald on Chariot or taking a bunch of Seekers of slaanesh
Well the things that will most likely drop them will be giving them their non inv. save anyways. They are tough and hit hard when they arrive to their destination. 6x5 40mm bases is large footprint and you are gonna wanna drop them really close. NOTHING is cheesy for daemons. There is a guy I know who plays Kairos/Bloodthirster and 5 crushers and it wins and loses and last game he scattered a bloodthirster into kairos from 8 inches away and it was the only other model down. His list is something like:
Bloodcrushers are slow and though they can take wounds they will never catch alot of armies. IE tau, eldar, dark eldar. The need to deepstrike really close makes them that much more uncheesy as you could lose the unit without it doing anything at all.
My upcoming blog in the works:
There is no cheesy Daemon army, it's too damn random.
Bloodcrushers are great, hard to kill and very killy themselves, but they're ridiculously slow. They're easy to avoid and will fold if somebody sends a Dreadnought at them.
I like Bloodcrushers, but you'll need some faster units to catch the enemy while the Crushers hold center and draw fire. Seekers, Keeper, BT, Hounds, Grinders, and the like. They can also protect objective cappers well.
Hate to say it but Bloodcruchers are a bit slow so i think the Masque and sum good old Pavane will do you sum good
well...the list I came up with for a 1000 point tournament was
2X3 nurgling bases
Agreed there's not much "cheesey" things for daemons but hey it took 1st! No one was prepared for it, there was one mech army and one army with a dreadnaught. Never played them because they arn't the best players out there, and lost round 1 while
I took full points there.
Just a thought....
