Aye, he is, but he suffers much the same problems as Abaddon.
High cost. For the cost I could get a much better daemon prince.
Transport options. Deep Strike? Too risky, may scatter, will be shot to death. Foot Slog? Too slow, will be shot too death. Land Raider? Makes an expensive modle even worse.
The 'Oh hey a special character I should kill it' effect, People tend to think they are somewhat better if their army kills a special character, and will often fire most of what they have at it. This can work to your asdvantage though as you can use him as a fire magnet, albeit an expensive one.

Typhus is one tough cookie. Second only to Abaddon, I'd use him without a second thought. He frightens my Tyranid Monstrous Creatures.

As for Nurgle's Rot, for Typhus, it is a bonus. He can still use his force weapon as well as NR. S3 AP - may not seem like much against MEQ's, but against orks, guardsman, and nid swarms, it hurts...a lot.

I have used him in the past in an all nurgle army i i have to admit it creates a massive sink in your points as you soon start putting him in tooled up terminators, then having that unit (almost 50% of your force) under constant barage. after that there is very few points left over to be sneeky or constructive with.

use the model if you want cos he still looks ace but Riptor has said you can get yourself a much better Game affective) daemon prince or lord leaving you pleanty of points for the rest of your force.

I only field him in 2500 point or up games
Any other time he just costs way to much to be able to be instakilled
If they ever give him Eternal Warrior, I'll field him ALOT more
Because when he does get into CC, he hits like a truck and is a real pain in the ass to take down.

I've had the model for ages, but I've never used it in game.

I think it's cause I spent forever doing the painting to the best of my abilities, and I just have him as a kind of showcase thing.

Also, I never use Nurgle much anyway, I'm a Slaanesh/Tzeentch player, and no matter what the new 'dex [doesn't] say, I object to taking them together with Khorne/Nurgle.

The only real problems I have with Typhus are his speed, his ability to be insta killed and like abbaddon, he can be hurt with is own daemon weapon!

other than that he is quite useful, he is a CC monster and is quite adept at takeing down monsterous creatures.

I *LOVE* using Typhus. I have never had a bad experience with him. I usually play him in 2k+ games, and (some of vets here will cringe at this) I almost exclusively deepstrike him with a 5 model Karmoon pattern Terminator squad marked Nurgle. I swear to you, that single squad is an intensely scary thing for your opponet to have to face. He's expensive as crap, and the biggest downfall is that he can be instakilled, but all of his postitives far outweigh that. He's tough as hell, and will completely slap around anything on the table. As you can probably guess, I highly recommend him in Nurgle armies.

I use typhus in every game 1500+, i usualy put him with 6 termies with mark of nurgle and deep strike them in. I have a unit or 2 in rhino's with icons and a few running up the board, the bonus of this is when it's his turn to deep strike in he can deep strike within 6" of an icon, this allows him to get closer to the front lines without getting his ass shot to peices.
