Now I have been going through the new chaos codex, last time I did chaos was like 4 years ago or something.
I found a lot of new rules but as I always was a fan of Khorne, I'm planning to continue my unloyel legion.
I'm was thinking about forming an mechanized/fast army with as a leader a chaoslord with one of these load outs:
mark of khorn
deamon weapon of khorne
Juggernaut of Khorne
and let him join a biker squad (between 6 to 8 ) with also mark of khorne.
mark of khorne
deamon weapon of khorne
and let him join a few terminators which are going to deep strike.
the rest of the army would be something like 8 zerrkers in rhino's and in case of the termi's a squad of khorne raptors.
perhaps 1 or 2 defilers with flamer and CC weapon.
haven't really figured it out yet.
But back to the lords:
option one is more appealing because of the juggernaut he will see combat fast, and he will hit harder (because of cavillary rule and +1s and + 1a). But the deamon weapon is dangerous.
Option two looks saver, because I still get the invulnerable save from the terminator armour against any 1's from the deamon weapon. but then again he will only be able the see combat in turn 3 because of deepstriking in turn 2. I could also let him walk, but that's to much of a fire magnet and I don't like landraiders.
I would like to hear what you guys think of this dillema, or that you have some other options involving a Khorne lord with the deamonweapon.
Hate to burst your bubble but the Juggernaut still counts as infantry.
Lets go massacre something
I am a sexy shoeless god of war!
And to give you my opinion: I have a Khorne lord on juggernaut and he is a killer. The extra strenght is realy helpfull. And if you want to play an all out Khorne army, then consider the following: Field as many khorne bezerkes with powerfist champions and go orky. I always see khorne bezerkers as orks with power armor. Just run all the way to him and then kill him in close combat. WAAAGGGHHH!!!!!..... I mean, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!.
So the lord already has an invulnerable save.. nice, no termis then.
But now an other dilemma rises....
Do I go fully Khorne with the army, also the lord, because I really love the idea of 17 str5 powerweapon attacks on the assault but by who should he be accompanied? Because I want retinue, I just find it more awesome, even though he might be fine on his own.
But what if I just choose to be undivided, that means I can still build an entire force around berzekers, right? but I only take a slaanesh lord, it makes him cavalry with his mount and the slaanesh deamon weapon excels in killing HQ's and multiple wound targets, and then I let him join a squad of bikers.
The thing I worry about is the fact that the juggernaut is not fast enough. but then again..
...Do we still have bloodfrenzy? like throw a D6 to see if he gets somekind of fleet of foot thing.
Or should I forget the deamonmounts? Just give him a jetpack and let him fight with some Raptors?
Hmm, could anyone please help me with this.. some many choices, and nothing seems to be perfect >.<
You can always run with your chaos lord. It is a bit slower then flying, but if you want the Jugger, then go for it. You can also ask some people to play and let you proxy him, so you can find out what works good for you.
I first ant to try him out with some raptors and a jumppack, but I still find the juggernaut very cool, I'll try him in another battle.
And TBH I've never been a real horde fan, I prefer a smaller elite army above larger groups.
COngratulations on your return to the depravations of Chaos, my friend. I was curious what armies you normall play. I run both a Jugger Lord, and the Khorne Termi' lord and find them both to be very effective. I stick a retinue of Terminators with both until they get into combat. THe Termi lord is fantastic against gunlines, gotta love 17 power Weapon attacks on a bunch of terrified Guardsmen, and he quickly carves apart a lot of troops. He is great at walking through small arms fire but relies heavily on ohter units to protect him from heavy weapons. The Jugger Lord can allocate as many wounds as possible to his retinue, but suffers a bit more from being shot at. He does always give a solid centre against other cc armies, but I love hium for his adaptability. Nasty Dred, crunching noises and its gone. SOme Termi's rippin through your CSM, not anymore. Leman RUss taking potshots at your objective holders, BAM and it is gone.
The Slaaneshi Lord is good to, though and is a great monster/character hunter. I play a Termi Slaanesh lord with Daemon Weapon too, and he has a long list of great performances slaughtering Carnifexes like sheep as soon as they are out of Synapse, ripping through SMurf Characters because of higher initiative, it really depends upon your personally preferences, but I suggest COmbi-meltas for Termi lords. Stick with what you know tho, so maybe play the Jugger Lord to start with.
Good Luck and tell us how it goes,
Haven't been playing long but what I would say is
Lord on a Juggernaut= fire magnet as it's not 'normal'
Lord on a bike=fun and Blood for the Blood God as people seem to forget there is a Lord there
Raptors and deep strike never used cos I put my Termis in a Raider either with Kharn or Khorne Lord with Daemon weapon=fire magnet that can survive and release all sorts of fun!!!
I'd say try a raider when you see what it can do you might get to like it and stick with Khorne don't get attracted by others
I wonder if I can get CSM Bike wheels to fit on a Juggernaut.. hmm.. put some handle bars on the back of the head and "presto!" New ride for the Blood God!
