So i was thinking, i have been trying to craft Chaos Chosen out of some old khorne berserker models i have, were i have swapped the heads and arms and removed the regalia. The models look nice cause of the poses, but i have been trying to craft robes onto them in greenstuff with no great avail.
I have read a few different tutorials and it would probably be helpful if i got some decent tools, nonetheless i'm going to go with the other 6 models i have and see how they turn out.
Although i was thinking about converting some Dark Angels Veterans into chosen, they whole robed feel is what i want for chosen, gives them kind of a mysterious, infiltrating feel which i was going for.
So i was wondering whether or not anyone has done this conversion, or seen anything similar or even have some tips about how i would go about it or even any advice on my green stuff modelling, or any other ideas.
Oh also, i have only just started with green stuff, so yeah don't go overboard, i'm just learning as i go really.
Dark angels vets work but I just used the chapter upgrade sprue ad combined with with a CSM squad. The zerkers would work too but instead of green stuff maybe cut some cloth and attach that?
Just some ideas
Awesome didn't really think about the Chapter upgrade sprue, although i was wondering what's it's exact contents are? Although it could possibly be better for me to buy two veterans boxes and a CSM squad, least that way i can add in more numbers.
Cloth isn't a bad idea, might have a go at that, as i said am just playing around with like 6 older models.
If you go to the GW site, they have a picture of the sprue, so you can see it's entire content.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
i would use a thicker aluminum foil instead of cloth, i find i get better results(when not using gs that is,) and you can shape it to the poses you are going for. just my opinion
whenever i make clothe on models i make a 1.1. glue water mix and put it on paper towel. it works really well for clothe and you can shape it onto models you have already made. just make sure you dont use flower print paper towels or people might call your marines pansies. other than tat if you can get good at useing green stuff thats wonderful too.

Holy bananas, Batman!
I never thought of using cloth! That would have been perfect for my Jetbike Seer Council conversions.. if I weren't selling off my Eldar..
I imagine combining all of the above ideas (disregarding green stuff) would work wonderfully in unison. 1) Use tin-foil to create a mold for how you wish the cloak/cape to be positioned on the model. 2) Gently lay the cloth over your mold. 3) Use a liberal application of super glue and paper towels to stiffen it up.
^-^ I might just have to make that Jetbike Council after all, at the very least it'll earn me quite a few extra pennies when I do sell them..
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

I may have to try all of those... I haven't been 100% happy with the GS loincloths, cloaks and hoods that I've tried on a few of my models. Rep to all!

Awesome thanks for all the advice guys.
Although i'm thinking i'm gonna pick up some of my mates DA veterans he isn't using and convert them, he has 10 i can get for cheap and they are still on the sprue, someone bought them for him for a present, as they thought thats what he collects (he has space wolves).
So i can make chosen out of them and robe up my aspiring champions as well
Should be good, will try the other ideas though
.., or you could just buy robed dark angel veteran bitz from an online bitz-store. That way you get awesome models and can use whichever chaos breastplate you want.
I bought mine on bitzandkits. It's a toystore for adults.
