3 Oblts+2 Vindis
This is for a semi-competitive list, choosing my set-up. A guy at the store says the ultra competitive list run 9 Oblits, I just wanted to run two vindi and 3 oblits. What do you like better?
This is a very tough call without seeing the rest of the list as both Vindicators and Oblits have their place in competitive lists. Taking them both at face value, I prefer Oblits over Vindicators due to the sheer flexibility of Oblits.

Can I choose neither? I really don't like either of those options. 9 oblits cost an arm and a leg $$$ wise too.
The guy at the store isn't going to play your army for you, so it is important to play what you like and what you prefer to use. Both the vindis and the oblits have abilities and tactical options the other does not have and both are great when used properly with the right army and the right opponent. The benefit I see with your setup is that you get both types of units without forcing yourself to take all of one type. That way if one type turns out to be less effective you're not stuck with 9 useless oblits or 3 useless vindis, you have both options. If you have other armor units for your opponent to shoot at, the vindis + oblits might be best, if not take full oblits or oblits + havocs or some other combination.
edit: I haven't voted btw

The Vindicator is overrated in my opinion. It provokes a useful psychological reaction but is far too dependent on that one gun and doesn't have the armor to survive with such a large threat profile. Throne knows, it's hard enough for my Russ Demolishers. Oblits are a fun, effective and signature unit of Chaos--I say use them.

I'm going to check the "Neither" button as well and suggest that you use Predators. Armor is so much more survivable in 5th that it's almost folly not to use it.
Vindicators are armor, I know, but their range is too short, and some people will say it still too short even if you are using Lash...
Although Obliterators are awesome units, they die too easily to S8+ weapons.
Predators are very survivable, adaptable, and useful in more ways than Obliterators. (mobile cover and blocking assaults, etc...)
If there was a button that said "3 Obliterators and 2 Predators" I would choose that!
2 defilers and 3 oblits. Defilers do the vindicators job, but from a longer range. Also, If you feel your defiler is under threat, just leg it into CC. They cant shoot at it then
Defiler, 3 Obliterators and ....... something else.
Vindicators need the right kind of list to be used effectively. Because they usually need to advance to shoot well, they are exposed, so the list needs to be geared to helping reduce the issueas caused by that exposure.
In which case, 2 Vindicators can be very nasty indeed.
Not very good options there tbh, I LOVE defilers, i think they are great, my best game with them, was against orks (not a proper game, was against my friends 10 year old brother, who wants to play, but isn't bother if that makes sense) and 2 turns in a row (all we played) they killed 10 Orks each (in both turns) he was using 6 squads of 20, but it still did a lot of damage, i wiped half his army out in those two turns (including 10 CSM with no upgrades managing to survive 3 turns of assault and do 2 wounds to Gazghull)
anyway back on topic:
I have been using 4 Oblits (2 squads of 2)
i also use 2 Defilers often, barley ever you my Pred, only use LR as transport, and get my vindicator out every now and then, haven't used havocs for a long time
