...is pretty extreme. However, people are still fairly good natured. It's just, everyone maxes out in cheese.
so we are doing the paramid scheme for a in-house slug fest, guy on top after 3 weeks whins 200 dollars in price (just happen to be one of the owner)...
I need a cheese list, against two armies I have trouble with, Eldar and Necrons. I tried to be fair with an all-comers list, but I want to lay the smack down on these guys.
My all comer list was 2 lash princes, 4 squads of csm w/ heavy bolter and melta, two 3x of termies with reaper cannon and chain fist, 10 khorne in rhino, 3 oblits, and 2 defilers.
the necron dude (who's on top) takes 3 monoliths w/ a nightbringer, and 30 necrons in reserver.
the eldar player has a jetbike army all in reserve, so that you dont get to touch him until turn 3. Last but not least, lash suck versus eldar, as he has anti psyker stuff.
Any good ideas?
Chaoszilla - 2 nurgle daemon princes with warptime, 3 dreadnoughts with 2 DCCW, 3 defilers with extra DCCW and fill the rest with troops. General idea is to run forward and assault stuff.
Rhino spam - As many chosen, havoc and plague marine squads as you can fit in with rhinos. Give them meltaguns and flamers. Use the meltaguns to get the enemy out of their tanks and tank shock them to group them together and finally hit them with the flamers.
Lash of submission - Daemon princes or sorcerors with lash submission and lots of obliterators. Plague marines or noise marines for troops.
I don't really know anything about necrons so I can't help you there. My advice is to get hold of their codex and have a read through, it might help.
For eldar if they are all held in reserve they will be entering the game piecemeal so should be easy to defeat if you can get across the board quick enough.
Thanks for input graphica
No one else has input? Against necron specifically?
1st if all, I would start out with 2 CSM squads, each w/ an champion with powerfist. 1 of the squads has meltas and the other has plasmaguns. Trust me, plasmas are worth it! They are both in rhinos, and also both have Icons of Chaos Glory, i love the IoCG!. So, use them accordingly. that is always the mainstay of my army and it works pretty well. you might want a squad of plague marines in a rhino, too... but in 5th ed. you really want to be mech. Rhinos are good and cheap, they usually don't need extra armor. They can also act as mobile terrain. just the other day I was defending my base which had 1 entrance. I blocked it with my rhino and it simply refused to explode! It won me the game. A Daemon Prince with wings (ALWAYS HAVE WINGS) and warptime is only 155 points and it can kill more than it's point value. As for fighting necrons don't even bother with the monolith and nightbringer. Just kill the warriors and go for the phase out! If you can avoid the big threats you WILL WIN. Phase out is one of the stupidest rules (IMO) but it is what wins games for people playing against necrons. As for the eldar, I also play a saim-hann jetbike style list. A single eldar jetbike costs 22 points, but it really isn't that dangerous. Think about it- t4, ws/bs3, a twin-linked 12"range gun. Yes, they are fast, but they cost a lot for what they do. Try to blow up his heavy guns first, such as fire prisms. vypers are fast but they are easy to kill. 10 AV, open topped. your bolters can kill that thing! All in all, if those two armies are giving you trouble, look for ap3 weapons. Thousand sons- their inferno bolts will deny armor for the bikes and necrons. Battle Cannon on the defiler- it's a non-crazed dreadnought on crack. They will decimate necrons and jetbikes. Just don't go for things such as berzerkers if you will fight mainly heavily armored foes. You want to negate their saves!
Well Necrons anti tank has been nerfed heavily with 5th edition no longer allowing glances to penetrate so just get either 3 defilers or 3 vindicators along with two lash princes, lash their biggest squads into small clusters (and try to take them out of reserection orb range if you can) and then just drop the pie plates on them, you'll be ignoring their saves and if there away from the lord they wont be able to roll for wbb either as both the battle cannon and demolisher cannon double their toughness .
Well that's what I'd do but It would be useful if you could provides a list of what you think the Necrons will be playing.
p.s. Both the vindicator and the defiler could also have a good chance of destroying the monolith and the vindicator is Str 10 and the deiler can charge into it.
Hope this helped T.G.
I'm Useless :D
You shouldn't have any problems with Necrons if you have lash princes and ord blasts, you'll phase them out in no time. As with the eldar bike army, as was said, you get over to their zone asap and they will bottleneck themselves into Demon Princes and Defilers.
I like the idea of a charging defiler, 5 attacks, auto hit or 4+ at most, at str 10? Might be crazy enough to work. and they also can drop pie plates when needed.
As for eldar, all they did was deny kill points, I was actually winning until the end. Next time I'll squash him by popping his prism and falcon.
How many points are you playing with? Lash princes with vindicators would be nice but I would prefer the defiler. It seems more versatile.
as for points? i guess the list is 2250. lashes would probably be used against this list, as well as lascannons in my regular CSM (4x total) along with 3 oblits (7 lascannons total) then with the defiler scramabling after the monoliths. We'll trying to ignore the nightbringer ~_~/.
I would just not even bother with the monoliths. Use the defiler's battle cannon to vaporize his warriors. Isn't if you are able to instant death a necron it cant use it's WBB? The battlecannon would serve that purpose amazingly. Just go for phase out and you win pretty much. Lash princes would help this tactic by bunching up the warriors to maximize damage
