I just wanna get the opinion of the masses here.
Yesterday I played a 1000 point annihilation game against a friend using the Daemonhunters and he threw a land raider and 3 dreadnoughts at my list of Kharn, 8 zerkers, 8 noise marines with sonic blasters, a 3-man combi-melta termicide squad, and 3 obliterators.
After he proceeded to decimate me after 2 turns I started thinking why bother? I pride myself on trying to stay away from things people consider cheap about our army. I don't use lash princes and usually only use 2 oblits no matter the game, and it seems no matter who I play they throw out a list who's sole goal is to make me so angry that I don't wanna play them again.
in summary, I'm just curious how you guys would've reacted in my situation and if you've ever run into gamers who don't care who they offend as long as they win.
sorry for the rant
3 oblits should have made pretty short work of that list, you just have to camp them in cover and make him come to you.
You can't really throw yourself at demonhunters.
I dont ever really play the 1000point games, because its either a really weak list, or cheese...
And I must ask, what was his HQ and 2 troops selections?
LR and 3 dreads doesn't leave much room for anything...
And thinking about it
LR and 3 dreads = 4 heavy support
An even less legal list...

Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
You had 3 combi-meltas and oblitherators and you couldn't take care of dreadnaughs? (and Kharn if in a pinch)
the dreadnaughts were all behind cover
his Inquisitor had a mystic henchman giving the entire retinue free shots at my terminators when I deep striked in and that included 3 plasmas.
I was going after the land raider with the obliterators which I deemed to be a bigger threat.
I gotta say, i can't do anything with the term "powergaming". It's just so arbitrary. I myself play a pretty understrength but fluffy empire army. But within the boundaries i set for myself, i definitely go for the jugular: hellvolleygun, steam tank.
Same with Eldar, i may not take some units but what i do allow myself, i kit out as best as possible.
I much prefer a powergamer who's poltie but takes the game itself seriously over a gamer with a friendly list but a bad attitude (not implying Demoneyesko with this).
I'm just saying, take what you want and can legally take and be a gentleman during the game, that's what i always prefer.
well no matter how you slice it, I got my hands on his codex because of something a friend told me and just found out that his list was extremely illegal so now I feel better.
and we can disregard this post.
Hey don't feel bad, this guys sounds like a real piece of work, someone who makes the rest of us look bad. I have been called a power gamer, because I tool my army up a fair bit, but the units are fluff based AND LEGAL. I have a Lash Prince, but I don't use him a lot, because it makes the game to easy against rookies. Not saying you are a rookie, but every now and then, you will get stuck playing a jerk and it will be really hard to win. Forget about this guy, the slimy little cheat, and move on. You can still take pieces of insight from lopsided games like this.
You mentioned a lord (for the raider). A couple of stormie squads and a BC to qualify for the dreads would have fit within 1000.
And IMHO it's not 'powergamey' or 'cheap' for a DH player to take landraiders and dreads - that's about a third of their entire codex.
I`ve promised to myself, next time, if I`ll see a list like that, I will say before the first turn:
YOU WON! (He wants to win badly, why we take half an hour for it?)
and just put away my army. I never had to say that yet.
