I wanted to get a sort of visual aide for anyone wanting to make a chosen squad as I, myself find them incredibly useful but am sometimes stuck for ideas as to how to make them obviously a greater looking soldier.
If anyone has any conversions made by themselves or someone you know, or just from coolmini I'd love to see them!
Bigger horns, more spikes, piles of skulls etc. still work.
If you have a certain colourscheme, maybe add another element to it to make them seem
" a cut above" gold details where the rest have plain metals, etc.
gold-plated weapons, more mutations are all things that would work.
It really depends on your theme and story.
For instance, i'm doing a darkened variant of my colorscheme to play on the infiltration aspect.
if you happen to have older gw models, like 80's or early 90's they would be cool to use, to denote their veteran status.

I cover mine in spikes, to the point their armour would actually be useless in combat because of movement issues lol but it looks so damn cool.
Also little skull and chains you get one some weapons attach nicely to the torso and pauldrons.
For me,it's the different, cool looking shoulder pads, and a colour that makes them stand out from the rest of the army.Oh,and spiky bits, got to love spiky bits.
I'm also adding all the uber-grit wargear to my chosen. Makes them look a lot more hard-core when the rest of the marines just tote a bolter or pistol and sword while these guys all look like walking arsenals.
Wargamer Haven, my little cyberspace blogspot.
For my Night Lords only the Chosen get the Bat Helmets. My old Tzeentch army was primarily blue with purple accents the Chosen were the reverse of that though being primarily purple with blue accents (purple is the colour of royalty after all).
I started my Chosen squad last night. They will be the only squad in the army with those holsters and grenade things and they may even get transfers!
They will also get a fancier paint job to represent they are Chosen.
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
i made mine out of Dark Angles veterans, the ones with the cloaks, and put chaos shoulder pads on them, and as 2 of the heas arent chaosy enough i switched them with the ore flamboyant heads in the CSM sprue (like the tzeentchy one that looks a bit like ahriman) and hunted down plasma guns for them all.
i think they look ace. but they could also work as Death Shadows marines.
Yeah, Dark Angel cloaks can look nice - for me I'd add lots of spikes, horns, chains, skulls, all that stuff. If you've got money, you can also add the Aspiring Champion torso, where he has a chain "skirt" type thing - loincloth or whatever. Adding trophy racks to their backpacks would look nice and be simple to do if you're new to converting.
You could have them all wielding a CCW and a pistol to show how much cooler they are. Perhaps they are wielding bolters "true grit" style like they would pistols. Also, legs of Berzerkers on some or all of them would help them look fluid and more aggressive than the rest of their Chaotic brethren.

They will look exactly the same as everyone else in the army, except with a higher plasmagun per model ratio. I do play Alpha Legion after all.My raptors are the same cloaked DA bodies, various heads, and Brettonian Pegasus Wings. They are 'angels' after all.I made mine out of Dark Angles veterans, the ones with the cloaks, and put chaos shoulder pads on them, and as 2 of the heas arent chaosy enough i switched them with the ore flamboyant heads in the CSM sprue
