We all know that right now our Choas is hurting. Maybe we can come up with ideas to help with the making of a new Choas codex and hope someone on here works at GW or can drop the list to a friend that works there.
I had one main idea. It was to remove the cult troops, don't stone me yet. In place of them making the marks stronger. So if you give a basic CSM squad a make, lets say nurgle, theyed gain all the skills that Plague marines have right now. This lets you make cult units beyoned just troops. So to make the current noise marines, because they have special weapons, the mark gives them the options that current noise marines have, just think havocs with 4 blastmasters.
Tank marks. Have marks made for tanks, rhinos just take the same mark as the squad they are bought for. Like Mark og Nurgle whoud add +1 armour, max of 14. Khorne lets troops assualt out of it, think rhino with assult ramp. I'm draqing a blank for other marks.
Add in eternal warrior to Lords with a mark, and sorc with mark of T, for the cost of points. Only per force, so if 3 players are on the same side only 1 player can have to so show the over all leader chosen by there god.
Anyone else got any ideas? Or shoud I just delete this thread and let it die?
This sounds VERY similar to the old codex. I agree to an extent.
Bring back dedicated vehicles, exactly as they were before.
Eternal warrior on Lords, OR possibility to buy it on Lords and Sorcerors.
Bring back a cheap HQ, either an Aspiring Champion, or like the old Lieutenant (2 wounds lord, basically, but lower stats).
Upgrades for daemons please. I am not asking for bloodletters etc back, but just let us purchase marks for them (doing different things though, like tzeentch blessed daemons getting a weak shooting attack), and the ability to buy wings. Both on minor and major daemons.
Command characters for the four other legions. Night Lords, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors and Alpha legion special characters.
Maybe the option for cultists as a troops choice? Make it so they cannot be compulsary, and make them similar to the old LaTD ones.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
I'll be honest. I don't see chaos suffering at all. In fact, chaos is a Tier 1 army at the moment, even without the dreaded lash/blast combo.
However, let's give this a go. Along with posting possible changes, you might also include a point cost. The price of a model and/or upgrade is the deciding factor on whether or not it is balanced.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
i think there should be any option to field cultists
they should be a troopchoice,
maybe 10 to 20 miniatures in a squad,
stats like space marine scouts for example
with an option to be led by a aspiring champion
able to take 2 or maybe more special weapons
i think heavy weapons would not fit
My WHFB Armies (DE&WoC): here
i'd say keep the cult troops, because if you just give them an Icon that makes them into Noise marines and the Icon bearer dies, then the squad looses the noise marine status and turns back into normal CSM and that seems like it would be just too much of a pain to figure out mid battle.
Add Dreadclaws to the codex and maybe the landraider redeemer variant.
The marked vehicles would be really cool: Khorne=Assault ramps, Slannesh=Sonic Tank weapons, Tzeench=Tank counts as skimmer?, Nurgle=+1 AV (max 14)
make eternal warrior a purchasible, but expensive, upgrade to hq choices, cheaper hq choices, Retinues for lords and scorcerers, bring back the god specific demons, Make oblits WYSIWYG (assault cannons), Special codexes for the major legions,
i dont think anyone is claiming that chaos isnt a competitive army, because it is. the problem is you cant really build that competitive army without disregarding all of its background and fluff and the internal balance is so bad that you have a few really great no-brainer choices and the other 80% of the codex no one ever plays with or at least not more than once after getting stomped.
there are some things in the new book that i really like, our troops are the best in the game in my opinion.
here is a quick rundown of what i think the next book should look like.
- keep daemon princes as HQ but they dont count as your mandatory HQ
-move all cult units to elite unless your lord has similar mark
-marks for HQs confer the same benefit as cult unit marks
-rework chosen as "undivided legionaries" or what have you, that represent the 10,000 year old veterans from the undivided legions, give them the option to choose from a list of special skills and equipment so you can personalize them for any of the legions, make them fearless and they count as elites unless your HQ has the mark of undivided
-keep our basic CSM as is, only marks are bought on a per model basis rather than an icon that can be killed
-either drop the daemons altogether and give us cultists, mutants and other traitor units or give us back real daemons (none of this watered down bs)
- do something useful with spawn, they are such nice models.
Having a wargear item for HQs for a inval save. Right now it's ether termie armour or mark of T to get one.
Erg: Sorry Monstein, my keyboard betrayed me, and I accidentally erased part of your post. ~Rabbit
No worrys, was about to edit this post after looking at the codex more and see that Chaos lords do come with a 5+ save no matter the armour.

I like having cult troops and lesser marked units, but I really don't like icons. Also I miss Chaos Undivided.
We need proper cult Termies and Marked HQ's. I don't like leading FnP Death Guard with a watered down IoN Lord.
I suppose the point would pretty much be to forget the new codex exists and go back to the old one.
