Hey guys, I have assembled my army and am getting ready to start painting. I just had some questions. I was thinking of painting my regular marines with the Disciples of Minthras paint scheme, basically merchrite red armor, chaos black/boltgun metal highlights, etc. However, is it the norm to paint the cultist troops their own respective colors, even though they wouldn't necessarily match with the rest of the army? Also, if anyone has links to websites with more ideas for Chaos Marine color schemes I would appreciate it.
There is an exemple on cult marines from other factions in the Codex (Picturing Black Legion Zerks). Yu could be inspired by this.
But the norm is more or less: Your models, Your choice.
And now to erase your memory of this entire conversation.
Coolminiornot.com has a lot of well painted minis for you to peruse. LO has their own pic gallery you can search. Lexicanum.com has all the renegade paint schemes+loyalist so you can get some ideas.
As far as do you have to paint your cult troops green for plague marines? No, absolutely not. Nurgle doesnt just drop plague marines from the sky. They are taken from their respective chapters/warbands , they dedicate themselves to the particular god, and then they start to mutate(or gain gifts as they call it). They might paint their helmets a certain color to distinguish themselves as one of the chosen of nurgle or whatever, and they might have the beginnings of some mutation like tentacles for nurgle or sores or whatever you like.
So paint them the normal color of your chapter, and then add mutations/dedication symbols/other stuff to make them look like they are both a member of that chapter and also dedicated.
