Been lurking here for a while and although I am solely a Dark Eldar player by heart I am thinking of "dabbling" with my son's army for fun. So I got two questions about those of you who either have tried or are currently using a Greater Daemon.
First question, although I must sacrifice an aspiring champion do you run a naked champion in your list with no upgrades solely for the GD to possess? Just one or two, none?
Second question is what unit do you use or opening move you are using in anticipation of the arrival of the GD? Example, are you using an infiltrating chosen champion or are you just rhino rushing a normal CSM squad and hope you can get him deep?
I do remember my first game at the Las Vegas GW Grand Tournament that my Death Guard opponent simply "ran" a squad forward into cover and on 2nd turn a lesser daemon popped out and charged me. He did have a Greater Daemon but it came out in the 3rd turn and counter charged my counter chargers - can't remember what exactly he sacrificed for the GD.
Thanks in advance!

A guy at my shop runs a GD, he takes a naked Champion in a Rhino as his delivery method. Smoke, proper deployment and some screening by other vehicles let's it get where he needs more often than not.
As far as I've seen, it's never won him a game but it does absorb some shots nicely.
I think that for what it does the GD is pretty bad-ass anyway so the price of a fist champion to bring him into battle is worth it and that way I have 3 places he can come out
I used to use one in my WE army and it was a decent amount of fun but in the end I didn't think the fun outweighed the little he did. I found that he never came in at a very opportune time, either coming in too early and getting shot up before hitting CC or coming in at the end of the game when I had pretty much already won.
I just think you could field better models at 130 pts, like Raptors. If you plan on playing him anyway, I would just field vanilla champions of the regular CSM variety and rush them up the field in a rhino.
I was talking to an experienced chaos player in my local store, and his strat was this: (NOT mine, however I plan to use it at an upcoming tourney)
Take a squad of 6 chosen in a rhino and infiltrate. Use 5 plasma rifles if you want to kill MEQ or TEQ units or 5 meltas for tanks. Upgrade one to a naked champion and use him for your Greater Daemon. All of a sudden your opponent has a GD as well as 5 scary chosen to deal with in their deployment zone, with all their juicy heavy weapons and artillery.
The only issue is that the chosen have to be on the board the turn before the GD, so make sure you have other champs/lords just in case.
The Emperor died ten thousand years ago.
That's one of the better ideas I've heard about using a GD.
