In how many years do you guys roughly estimate the CSM basic codex will be up for renewal?
I can't imagine they'd update it very soon though I'm sure someone somewhere is working on the beginnings.
Then again, look at the Dark Eldar Codex... 1998 and their battleforce comes with... trees! lol
"If all else fails: duck. As a defensive stratagem it's unreliable, but incredibly reassuring for a moment or two." - Lord Corvis of Petrax
I'd say more than a few years. CSM is a staple army so they get more love than say....Tau. SM, CSM and IG are their big money makers. Anything else falls by the wayside until they say otherwise. Go Space Wolves Codex am I right?
I would guess a long time. As it is, there isn't a unit (excepting possessed) that don't regularly get fielded / don't have a viable use. The army is very balanced and very strong as it is and doesn't need any repair. There are other armies that need it much much more (DE and Necrons for example...)
At least 3 years I'd say, there is also the rumour of a legion codex in the works but I'd rather see GW doing those armies that are vastly outdated first.
Yeah i would expect 2 to 3 years before a new one to be dropped, really though i don't see it becoming much different maybe just a re attachment of legion rules and decent daemons, somewhat like a hybrid between our current dex and the previous one.
Sort of a balance between the power we have know and the fluff we had prior, would give us a pretty nice and definitive codex that really wouldn't need much changed after it's release.
I don't really think CSM need an update either. And damn it GW, Necrons and DE are REALLY in need of a new codex!
Necron Army Building Maxima: Beware of Phase Out
DE need a new Codex, followed by Necrons and finished off by an umbrella Inquisition Codex. Anyone who knows anything about the Inquisition would love to see Deathwatch on the table top I'm sure.
Never said they were in high need of a codex. I'm merely wondering in how many years the CSM codex will be up for a new version.
In that case you've got your answer: No time soon.
