hey guys what are your thoughts on Abaddon, recently at my gaming store everyone is using special characters so i think why not Abaddon? Can he deepstrike? Is he even worth taking?
All comments welcome
I bless you with the fires of Chaos,
i dont know any thing about the special characters as none of em fitt in my thousand sons army(my guys stayed home whit magnus when ahriman got kicked out for being a prikk)
but i know that modells in terminator armor can Deep strike as it say in our codex on page: 86 under terminator armor last sentance
(dont know if i can give you the fullwording here)
yes abbadon can deepstrike because he has terminator armour
i take him cuse hes a beast in combat strength8 insta kills space marines eternal warrior and re roll failed to wounds at ws 7
if he gets into combat healthy and with no wounds he will single handidly kill the entire unit
mine alone after taking 4 full space marine squads firing killed an entire chapter masters retinue himself
In 2000+ I'd take him. You either DS him off an Icon with a decent sized retinue, prolly 3-5 and dare someone to take them on OR put him in a Raider, run bullet magnets in your army and rush the lines.
Not a great character because of the prohibitive cost but certainly fun.

Abby's actually not bad. An expensive brute, he can pretty much handle anything in close combat. Given this, coupled with the fact that he's not exactly cheap, smaller "retinues" are better than larger ones. He doesn't need much support. In the few games I've used him, I've split him off from his 4-man termi squad and sent the termis in another direction.
While deep striking certainly has its merits, even with Abby, due to his slow nature and dire threat, I tend to deposit him in a Land Raider.

Abbadon is actually cheap when you consider that he's a unit by himself--one that can kill anything in the game on top of that. I suspect he's a rare sight because gamers don't like the randomness of daemon weapons, powergamers only see Lash Princes and hobbyists prefer not to use special characters on general principles.
