what should i have for a death guard HQ choice, oh and im new to the forum and 40k
OK you really can't consider your HQ in isolation from the rest of your army, ideally you also need to consider wwho you will be fighting.
Death guard armies commonly use the Typhus model as the lord. equiped with a man reaper and nurgles rot, as well as the termie armour and some demonic upgrades, this makes him a nasty close combat machine if he is facing alot of other people, unfrotuntaley it is not the best choice for 1 on 1 with someone elses uber HQ. A more common approach if you want to use him for this is to ditch the man reaper and take a plague sword, this is commonly done on powered armour lords
In either case I would stay away from greater demons and give serious thought to which squads he is gonna hang around with, is he gonna be on his own (bad idea) or with a squad of chosen or is he gonna join an existing squad? in the latter 2 cases you need to think about common armour (having the typhus model with termie armour join a powered armour squad will prohibit sweeping advance for the whole squad
Everything you have been told is a lie!
In all my games up until 1850 pts, I only use one HQ, a LT w/ MON, manreaper, D strength, and sometimes D aura.
definately put a manreaper on him! i battled a death guard HQ w/ manreaper and he wiped the floor with my hq and retinue.

i've heard alchohol makes you stupid!
No i'm . . . doesn't
I have used the model of Thypus a he is a perfect choice for taking a lord with termie armour, the model itself looks very good and when properly painted makes for a gorgeus looking HQ
