I'm currently considering converting my Word Bearer CSMs into Word Bearer Plague Marines, but I'm stumped as to what I could do to make them into sufficient counts-as Plague Marines. I know a couple people have talked about just slapping a whole bunch of bionics on their CSMs and I even read about someone using CSMs covered in syringes and other things to represent drug-addled Slaneesh marines, but I'm not sure what I should do for my Word Bearers. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Give them Nurgle standards and put bits of fantasy zombies on them?
Alternatively greenstuff their abdoments and make them into distended stomachs, put little pieces of greenstuff on them then make them look like pustules. Poke holes in them and make them look like weeping sores. Or you could just paint them a sickly green and put nurglings around their bases, then only convert a handful of them and mix them in with your squads.

Well I want to try and stay away from the whole oozing bloated bag of pus look. I want to retain something that will still look Word Bearers-esque I do like the idea of Nurglings though. Pet nurgling as a personal icon sounds like it might be interesting.

Anything to make them look like they've been possessed by Daemons could be a good thing. Marines who've sacrificed their souls for the "greater cause" of the Word Bearers. Think Thousand Sons, but with Daemonic possession instead of dust. Maybe just make them look very daemonic, a little bigger or bulkier than your normal marines.
You could just go off of the Black Legion PM shown in the codex (page 74), and mix your Word Bearer armor with something in a dirty green or brown. Also consider the Purge; they don't have all the standard Nurglefication. Recolor some armor, add some fly icon or something, and you're good to go.
I fully promote nurglings on every base you can get them, too.
Well what does a Plague Marine have on a regular CSM? +1T and FNP, can easily be represented by making half their bodies bionic; worked for Cassius.
It really depends on whether you want Nurgle Marines that are part of the Word Bearers without the plague look, or just counts as Plague Marines that are part of the Word Bearers.
If you call it a Missile launcher, then it'll never hit anything.
100% of people who aren't Karmoon know Saraneth is invincible.
If you want bionics the old Iron Hands tactical squad is a good place to start - it has plenty of bionic parts (which are metal) which go on the palstic actical squad, so the meat of the unit is easily converted to have a chaos look.
I also have word bearer plague marines. What did I do? I painted them as plague marines and gave them WB shoulder transfers. MAGIC!

I would suggest going for a daemonic possesion style model. Make them all twisted with the weapons becoming part of there bodies.
As long as they look different to the normal CSM then its fine. I have some counts as PMs in my Iron Warriors force, they have loads of additional bionics.
Personally, I'd suggest just buy a few boxes of Plague Marines (or order the deathguard conversion packs from forgeworld, if you are so inclined) and just say that your CSM lord/sorcerer/DP brought them into the warhost he's gathering through some coercion or bribe.
However, staying in-theme... If you run Possessed, perhaps these are 'initiate' possessed, those that just got a daemon bound to them but haven't quite mastered it yet...
You could also take a page from WHFB's Skaven. Look at the plague monks... now look at your marines... Dark Angels robes (with a few suitable holes and tears modelled into it) might do the trick!
