So, I would like to add Flesh Hounds of Khorne to my 40k Daemon army, but IMO, the models are way too expensive, and ugly, to make matters worse. I was browsing some of the fantasy Warhammer models, and it looks like there are some passable alternatives, provided I paint them appropriately; namely Chaos Hounds or Dire Wolves. I was curious which models people thought would be the most appropriate, and also if anyone had any advice for mounting them on round bases (i.e. could they be mounted on 25mm bases, or should I try to scrounge up a bunch of 40mm bases? If I bought the actual Flesh Hounds box, would they come with round bases? If so, what size? Thanks!
The flesh hounds, as well as the dire wolves or chaos hounds, all come on the rectangular "cavalry" bases. Personally, I would go with the chaos warhounds as they are all plastic.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
Or you can do what I did, and pick up some goblin spider riders dirt cheap on ebay (they're real cheap if they're from the skull pass set), then just use the spiders without the riders, and paint/glue a khorne symbol onto their backs. There, flesh-spiders of khorne. ^_^

the current flesh hounds arent the best models, but i dig their stats. what im using are the old metal chaos hounds. they dont really look like hounds of khorne, but they look like khorne possessed hounds, which i think is ok
When in doubt, more Bloodcrushers
I saw someone take the new Cold Ones from the plastic Dark Elf box, do some minor conversion work and painted them up all khorne-like and they looked pretty cool.
Raptors of Khorne. =)
