i'm trying to decide on a color for my new CSMU army, but i can't pick out a color scheme. i don't want a red one, cuz that's too much like my flesh tearers army. i want something new. i'm thinking that color of the warp ghosts in the back of the codex looks pretty cool, but i dunno if i could make the color scheme, cuz there's that patchy kinda thing to it. any ideas?

Right well first thing off the bat a group of traitors are a "legion" not a chapter.

Why dont you buy a few models, experiment with colour schemes, line them up together and decide which one you want. One thing to remember though, is marine armour usually does well with a main colour and then a different one on the shoulder pads, etc. No more than three colours on the armour is a good rule to stick by.

if your going for an undivided army then avoid all legion iconagraphy and try make up some pre heretical chapter fluff from which they turn heretical and gain your colours from there. one heretical chapter im making up are the warp knights an undivided chapter that worships chaos and paints their armour black and green you can do what ever you wany aslong as you make sure that your army is a chaos worshipper army all should be fine.

Yeah, It doesn't look like they read your post properly.

The Warp Ghosts aren't hard to paint, if you know how to drybrush. Just drybrush rotting flesh onto the black undercoat, drybrush bleached bone over that, then give the raised edges a little white with a detail brush. The trims are black with raised edges in grey. Finish the armour before you paint the trims. That way you won't have to drybrush neatly. A great timesaver is to use a BIG brush, like the one I use for my eldar; a 10mm square brush.

    Other ideas for color schemes:

-Rusty brown, like Fab Bile's bodyguard.
-Blue shoulderpads and banding, golden armour.
-Dark angels green with lightining motifs(think green Nightlords)
-Black with brown, grey, blue or green drybrush.
-Make them renegade spacewolves. Dark grey armour, gold trims, and wolf pelts..
-Invert the black legion or Alpha Legion color scheme(use trim color on armour and armour color on trims).
-use the pre-heresy World Eaters color scheme. It's elf grey with ultramarine blue shoulder pads, and it looks amazing!
-If you play fantasy, steal the color scheme of one of the Empire provinces..
-steal the color scheme of a low profile loyalist chapter, like the Sons Of Medusa, they have a great color scheme.

Good Luck, let me know how it turns out!

I'm not sure that's a good idea.. The blue might be too much of a contrast to the bone coloured armour.. You should paint up one test model before you paint any more.
