Having completed a fluffy Night Lords army, i recently became aware as to the amount of Plague/Bezerker units i have spare (from a previously unfinished project). But i'm having too much fun playing NL to drop them for a proper custom project.
So my thoughts have drifted to integrating them into my NL army? Perhaps not to fight with my NL, or maybe so but not in full force. It's an idea that is hard to explain but in essence, whatever models i have (around 1.5k of Plague & Berzerkers) will be used as a "full frontal assault" to minimise the loss the NL would take. (ie. NL wait in reserve). (ie. operation HUMAN SHIELD)
TBH, i dont have a problem with fitting berzerkers into my plan, but i obviously dont want to be making a new 2k list solely for my PM's.
I think i'm still also toying with the idea of whether i want to break fluff or not by including PM's and Berzerker Units but as i said, i don't have the time nor the funds to be starting a new list to solely use my favourite CSM unit (PM).
Anyone any thoughts?
Nothing has ever been so "Emperor of Mankind" as breaking fluff. Never break fluff!!!
The Wolf time is upon us!
Rep for the Rep God! Positive for the Positive Throne!
Armies: Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Emperors Children, Necrons, Eldar
Never break the fluff! It is the fifth god of Chaos!
That said, the way I'd integrate them is by painting them alternate colours, so black legion/death guard/etc., and then modelling a small device on the side of each one's head as a "mind control" scenario.
Unfortunately, I don't have the patience to do this in practise, so i prefer not to break fluff.
My main CSM list has a Nurgle theme, but I use a squad of noise marines.
I just modeled the sonic blasters onto deathguard bodies, and painted them as if a squad of emperor's children got hit with the destroyer plague.
Fluffwise, they're using the sonic weaponry because it's one of the last things that gives their rotting bodies the slaaneshi sensations that they desire.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
You see, i absolutly love the way you have bended and not broken the fluff.Fluffwise, they're using the sonic weaponry because it's one of the last things that gives their rotting bodies the slaaneshi sensations that they desire.
Is the NL's contempt for cult units absolute or would they allow themselves to use tainted units if only for bloodsport?
Half of me likes to think that they would slay a PM unit as quick as any other on the sole factor that they are tainted, but the other half of me likes to think that the NL can have some fun unleashing the mindless horde as a weapon of terror.
With my Night Lords, I simply ignore Berzerkers and Noise Marines being 'cult troops' and state that my bolter- and chainsword-Marines have become quite good at their jobs over the last few thousand years. Nobody seems to mind as long as I keep things WYSIWYG.

In my Word Bearers I use Berzerkers as Uber Fanatical Zealots and thinking of Adding unit of PMs but modeling them as busy reading out skripture/ praying and generally being very devout and explaining the extra toughness as not giving a hoot about being shoot until thier prayers are finished.
perhaps you could find a way of making that kind of fluff bending to use the rules for PMs and KBs?
Yes people i know that my spelling and punctuation is awful but I am product of British teaching pollicies so what can I do about it?
