So my buddy and I got into an disagreement the other day over Kharn and psyker abilities. To my understanding, Kharn can't be affected by any psyker abilities including shooting abilites ie. a sorc of tzeench can't damage him with Doombolt. My buddy says he can still be hurt by such abilities because they're shooting and not something that's trying to "affect" him. This doesn't make sense to me because it's still a psyker ability and if he can ignore instant death from a force weapon (I know there's a separate statement for force weapons) I'm sure he can shrug off some Doombolt shots and the like. Please help me understand this a bit more.
As per the Adepticon '09, the question is asked:
"Kharn "is immune to the effects of psychic powers. What exactly is meant by this?"
Answer: Kharn is completely unaffected by the following psychic powers (the power is not canceled, Kharn just ignores its effects):
Blood Angels: Transfixing Gaze
CSM: BoC, Doombolt, Gifts of Chaos, Lash, Nurgle's Rot, Winds of Chaos
(Other codex psychic powers are listed as well).
It might be interesting to note that right below this entry, the question is asked:
"If Kharn is part of a unit that is hit by a psychic shooting attack, can wounds be allocated to him (using the normal allocation rules for shooting) that he then ignores?
Spambot kill tally. . .337
So even if wounds would be allocated to him through his squad he ignores said wounds? That's even better than I thought! Once again Rabbit, you are a well of knowledge, many thanks!
He doesn't "ignore" them persay
His special ability just negates them.
But hey, it makes up for it when he starts cleaving through his own squad......
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
you still have to allocate wounds. so Kharn can only negate like one wound per psyker attack.
The Decayed Ones 2500 points of nurgly goodness.
Necron- Ice Wraiths of Scy-mir 2000+
Imperial Daemon Hunters- 1500
considering some psychic powers (bolt of change anyone?), that is pretty cool.
somesthig else to consider would be, if he rides with regular (non-fearless) CSM his squad practically gets immune to the psyker battle squad power that kills your leadership value. it won't kill kharne's and his is used for leadership tests.
