Just trying to get everyone's thoughts on the Greater Daemon. I've been fielding it in 1500pt games and it really hasn't come around for me all too often.
I find it a decent enough choice and a fair bargain for its points, but I don't like the overall cost - I simply don't like going without a Champion to guide/protect/lead a units of CSM and giving one up usually seems like a bad idea to me. I don't usually pack Greater Daemons, but I have tested a game or two using Chosen as a delivery platform - they are already close to the enemy and you can put special CC weapons on CSM who aren't the Aspiring Champion, this helps alleviates the loss of an important part of our armies.
Overall an ok choice I think, just a little tempermental - they seem a little awkward to use. Though, I am sure a couple players here have used them to good success.
Exactly, i feel like I am destroying a unit that could actually do damage that i payed for.
My Aspiring Champion is usually loaded with a power fist, so blowing 40 points for something that may be unreliable just doesn't seem worth it.
well, if you review their stat line, they do make for a massive difference, especially in the more mobile Chaos armies, even if you get him 2nd turn, assuming the squad was in a rhino, he'll be <12' from an enemy, essentially one turn of shooting before combat death. Also, he has a massive stat line compared to the regular MC we get (ala Deamon Prince), his only downfall being the I of 4, but he trades off by having 5 attacks, i believe. Also, i always assume that they cost 140 (100 + upgrade for the AC) so totalling that in they really do actually look like a steal. their ability to appear and charge on the same turn is amazing too, just like Lesser Daemons, though I've posed that idea before and not many people agreed with me :-P. And choson are fairly good if your prepared to lose the squad because your running one and they'll target them soooo fast. Pie plates = bad xD
I assume Morgan Freeman is the voice of the Emperor.

The only way I would use him is if I also had the points for a naked chosen champ. I just can't not have power fists in my troop squads.
How Did This Get Here I Am Not Good With Computer
IMO I would much rather have a missile dread and not lose my powerfist champ than take a GD. The missile dread is immune to small arms and normal CC attacks, can fire on his way in, and do fairly well in CC.
