New here, Not sure if this is the right place to ask.I have a few queries about Csm. Be gentle please, my sentence structure and wording is slightly chaotic at times, Its not intentional, Its my autism bleeding through.
Regarding the Daemon prince, Which models would you consider suitable/acceptable replacements for the current DP model? I am not a big fan of the current model, But having never ran one I am unsure what would be a suitable replacement. I had considered the Lord of change, But i dislike the old model and while he works as a daemon he doesn't seem to have enough flair to be a Dp, and the FW Lord of Change (while very cool indeed) seems a bit large to use as a Dp. What have some of you used instead?
My second question is more of a model/would you allow it/how can i fix it without destroying it query. My flavor of Csm is 1kSons , Back from the previous codex when they had more restrictions/options. My Aspiring champ's are modeled with powerfists, As they could take them in the previous dex, But they can only be given melta bombs and powers in the new dex.
What can I do about the P.Fists, Besides informing my opponent that they are simply a fisty force weapon. I am unwilling to destroy the model, Or tear off his arm and replace it as I put a-lot of work into them (for me at least, I am a slow painter, ie: 5-10 hours per mini but I can mod like there is no tomorrow). Is there some sort of paint scheme I could overlay on it, Or maybe a slight greenstuff modification you could recommend I could add to it?
I have other questions, But these two are currently holding back the rebuilding of my Sons. Coming back to 40k after a few years hiatus to find your army no longer has its own ruleset, Some of your models are illegal or dont exist, And realizing you have to mutilate and or shelf your previous hard work is rather demoralizing. Any insight you could offer to get me back up to par would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hell o to LO !
Well I play a Tzeentch themed army and I donīt like the Demon Prince Model neither,
So what I did was basically take the Chaos Termi Sorc/Lord and made him flying like heīs currently undergoing the process of change (receiving the gift of demonhood(?) !
Donīt if thatīs something youīd like to do.. Link can be found in my sig..
One thing that lots of people do is mod a regular Space Marine Dread so it looks like a Demon Prince, can be really awesome.
Or have a look at some other models from other Companies,
forgeworld of course or:
Hell Dorado - Le jeu de figurines
Reaper Miniatures :: OnlineStore
Regarding the Powerfist, Iīd just model some sort of staff in his Powerfist hand, that you can remove again in case it becomes legit again.. quit n dirty.
If you have any other questions, just ask.. I love my 1ks and even though there not really competitve they are still quite capable of killing lots of enemies, thanks to their AP3 Bolts !
My friend had that to learn yesterday when he moved his Grey Knight within Short fire range
I do like the look of that Ushabti. And looking through the fantasy line I rather like the Be'Lakor model as well.
Do you happen to know the scale of either those compared to the demon prince, As the GW pictures are misleading as to actual size.
Depending on the size, That Ushabti might make for a interesting terminator conversion of some sort. Although it looks likes it's one of those 2-3 piece metal models, Which are more trouble than they are usually worth to convert.
I hadn't considered attaching another weapon to the powerfists, However I do have a few staff of light bits leftover from my necron army I could chop and pin into the powerfists. Or I could carve up some fantasy swords and make a powerfist/wristblade thing as well. Food for thought, Thank you.
Damn, now I might have to consider one of the Ushabti as well :s..
Havenīt seen that model earlier and it agree that it would look awesome in Termie Armour.. hahaha, well thatīs the thing, there a lot of great models out there..
Please post pictures of the progress in case you go with that one, Iīm really curious how that will turn out.
Have fun converting..
Canīt really say anything about the size, hight is quite alike iīd say, the demon prince is just a bit wider, but I guess with the armour you can fix that.
I use the Bel'Akor model as my DP and I have to say he works quite well. He is slightly smaller in scale (not as beefy) as the current 40k DP but altogether I like him MUCH better. IMO the Ushabti would work great as a greater daemon.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
Bel'Akor is a pretty popular alternate for Daemon Princes everywhere, and it's great for that as it's a wonderful model. I too was a Thousand Sons player who later expanded into greater Chaos a little before the newest codex. At the time I was beginning to work on this very idea, how to make an Egyptian style Daemon Prince - as mentioned the Ushabti were a great starting point I think, and even if you can't convert them, you can learn a lot from their style, adding in bracers along the arms, a few dangling parchment pieces and streamers and I think the idea starts to get across well. You could even try Green Stuff modelling a sort of headress - though perhaps look into the WHFB Tomb Kings Tomb Giant, maybe you could get some pieces from him? He is pretty big. Sadly I've never seen one in real life so I can't be sure. I also think it would be a fairly simply matter to model a 'battle-skirt' like the rest of the Thousand Sons have. Sorry that you've been away so long, I know for me I ended up giving away my Thrall Wizard models (Tomb King Lords and Liche Priests) and sold off my Flamers of Tzneentch - my condolences.
As for the Champions, have you thought about taking off the bolt pistol arm? Keep in mind that rules-wise he'd still have it, we don't have to be holding everygun we own anymore. I was just thinking, if you cut off the gun arm and put on a staff/sword/axe then that can be the Force Weapon whenever you play Sons, and then if you decide to bring some vanilla squads then you could use the Champion still and say he's wielding the Powerfist. I only bring this up, because all Thousand Sons armies aren't super competitive, so it's a possibility that you might find yourself branching out a little to help compensate (unless you're admirably stubborn or incredibly skilled at 40K).
Anyway, welcome back to the hobby. And your grammar seemed fine to me, so no worries.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
you can also play that squad as standard CSM, where the power fist is legal. you would not have the hellfire bolter special rules or require the sorcerer, nor would the have slow and purposeful, but the unit would be current codex rules legal as is. You could even go so far as to give them a mark of tzeentch.
I've ordered Be'Lakor and the Ushubati vulture and jackal. Be'La for my prince and both ushu's for conversion purposes.
Also going to attempt to manufacture 2 of the glaives the ushubati's use from sprue bits and greenstuff and stick em in the powerfist hands via pins. To give it that "I need a glove this damn big to hold this thing in one hand" look.
Thanks for the suggestions and help, Much appreciated.
