I'm a fairly new player building my first army. I'm going to go full out Dark Eldar when they come out (whenever that might be...), but for now I'd like to start building a small army to play with friends, in the 750-1000 point range.
I proxy tested these guys out on my friends' Tau, Eldar, and Guard, and I liked the unique feel of the army, particularly the fiends.
The thing is, I don't know what to do for an HQ. I took a Khorne Herald on a Juggernaut, but a combination of bad scatter + mech enemies means he is literally doing nothing.
I like the Greater Daemons (Keeper of Secrets), but I'm not sure I want to sink a fifth of my army or more into one model.
What do some of you guys like to use as an HQ in smaller battles?
For small games, or any games really, I love the chariot Tzeentch and Slaanesh Heralds. The Tzerald is cheap, mobile, tough, and shooty, giving you probably the best bolt for your buck. Daemons have problems with armor, cheap S8 AP1 fire on a BS4 jetbike is definitely one of the best ways to do handle it. Sheralds are simply mini-Fiends, more speedy cav to munch on people. And, as we know, Fiends are awesome.

I agree with ==Me==. For smaller games, I'd go with a herald on a chariot. Either a herald of Tzeentch w/chariot, bolt, master of sorcery, and legion (and perhaps soul devourer) or a herald of slaanesh w/chariot, unholy might, and musk.
Don't use a herald of Khorne, they're basically no better than a bloodcrusher, and cost twice as much. The heralds of Nurgle are just plain bad, unless you're playing an Epidemus list, and at that point level, it's just not possible.
Good luck! Keep using those fiends! ^_^
Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of Strength 8 on a jetbike, I'll definitely try it out.
My only qualm is the Fiend models....ugly and pricy. >.<
Make a conversion for the fiends
Buy the Chaos Spawns or convert Demonettes with O&G Spider Rider
I agree with Crown Axe. Fiends are easy to convert out of plastic Chaos Spawn, or a mix of goblin spider riders and daemonettes. Either will look good and cost far less.
