New to Daemons. Bought a Soulgrinder cos I love the model. And I wanna build a Daemons army but I can't figure out the best way to model things that are not on sale.
For example I am loving the sheer power bump that chariots give t heralds but can't seem to find any models for them.
Really want to run 2 Tzeentch heralds on chariots. ANy help or ideas?
Also I keep hearing so much good stuff about fiends but the models look like rejects from silent hill. any ideas to run fiends that look beautiful and scary the way I imagine Slaanesh would have them not centaurs with a bad case of acid rain!
Chaos chariots from the Fantasty line are your best bet. Depending on which god you want (or, technically, you COULD leave it as the default horses...I guess), you would replace the mounts pulling the Chariot.
So for Tzeentch, it would be two Seekers, for Slaneesh, two Fiends, and for Khorne, two Juggernauts.
Just do a search for Chaos Chariot, and use that.
Unfortunately, doing that (chariot pulled by screamers, bloodcrusher, or fiends) is REALLY expensive. I'd just use a chaos chariot, and just have it be pulled by the normal mounts that came with the chariot. I know that's not exactly what the codex says, but there's no official model, so you could literally use anything. Personally, I just use normal chariots pulled by the normal mount, piloted by a herald of the appropriate type, and no opponent has ever complained.
As for the heralds themselves, a normal member of the troop unit (plaguebearers, pink horrors, daemonettes, bloodletters) work fine, but there are plenty of specific characters if you want something really cool looking, especially from the Fantasy pewter model range.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
That's basically what I did, just left the horses the way they are. Most daemon stuff is stupidly expensive anyway, my fiends of slaneesh are just DE Cold Ones. Whenever I get around to it, I'll attack some bits to them.
What I WILL be doing, for my Daemon princes, however, is have little felt capes hanging around their necks with the marks of all the Gods on them. . . yeah. Which daemon prince is the one with the pink and Slaneesh logo? Hmmm.
I used the tomb king chariots, since they come 3 to a box. Just glued a pink horror into the chariot, chopped the wheels and used the clear flying stands to make it hover.
DE chariots look sufficiently lithe and fast to be Slaaneshi.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
I have a high elf chariot with 2 of the very first seeker models pulling it. I put a daemonette model with the big claws and huge hair head on it. Then i put another one on it holding a standard for an icon.
for khorne i used the first juggernaught model from a CSM lord. Then a chaos warrior chariot. Then put skull taker on it. khorne chariots i think are only pulled by 1 juggernaught.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
There is no better option (for me at least) for Khorne Herald to be represent by Skulltaker. Now for the rest well thats tricky, for Tzeentch I use a heavy (lol) converted Aekold Helbrass - actually I have removed the head and I had it replaced with an old Tzeentch Greater Daemon one-mini. For Slaasneh, Azazel the Temptator with lower torso replaced with a Slaaneshi boobbeast (the one from the Slaaneshi WFB champion on mount). And for Nurgle Im using the one from Forge World.
MEAT IS MURDER
Heralds are a great reason / excuse to make twisted conversions, a chance to show your vision of the Chaos gods.
Only got about 750pts of Khorne and Nurgle Daemons, will end up making at least one herald for each power. In Progress at the moment is :-
Khorne blood-crusher as a Herald, will replace rider with character at some point, its an odd creature to find a different rider that fits and suits it. If was using Chariot would use either Chaos, Beastmen or Dark elf, each has its own feel.
Still not 100% on Nurgle herald, forge world one is very nice but got no need for daemon prince (its nice but not £40+ nice!).
Trying to choose between Drycha from WFB wood elves, given a sickly paint job and little green stuff magic it might work. But on other side is Skaven characters, specially Clan Pestilence range. Then there is the Carnival of Chaos from Mordhiem. The Plague cart is perfect for a chariot.
For Tzeentch going to use Emperors Champion body, left hand replaced with Chaos book on fantasy sorcerer (one pictured post before this one). in place of sword arm will attempt to make a mass of tentacles pointing forward like the guy in Akira. remove or replace Imperil symbols, add a few small details then got the choice of Wings, Chariot and Disc. ???...
With chariots its pick and mix, Khorne chariots with any of these - boars and tuskgors, flesh hounds, chaos hounds, sabertusks or even Xaphan hounds fit various aspects of khorne, more so when painted in khorne colours.
. . . . . The harder we stare the more complete the disintegration . . . . .
