Greetings fellow chaos lords.
I have a chaos space marines army that i started collecting like a year ago, but then i lost intrest in 40K and built an ogre kingdoms army instead, today i found all my chaos space marines in an old shoebox in my attic and decided to start collecting them again, only problem is, i dont know what to buy next. My current csm army consists of:
25 Regular chaos space marines
7 khorne berzerkers (I had more of them before but some are lost, i had about 12 earlier)
1 chaos lord
1 abbadon the despoiler
1 predator tank
So, what should i buy next?
start by building the most effective force, so mechanize your troops, you have 2+ CSM and Almost a full 8 khorne berserkers. but i would start smaller and make one unit of CSM and one unit of Berserkers. so you need a second rhino. Then i would really recommend either A deamon prince (pre order the new plastic) or you can use your lord, but will not be as effective(but defineately cheaper till you can get a DP). then i would run your pred or vind, that should almost get you 1000 points. another rhino, and your other heavy should get you just under 1500. but i usually like to double up my heavy support and fill in holes with oblits
I suggest picking up 2 more Rhinos for your troops so that they are all mechanized, pick up a Daemon Prince or two (as mentioned above, you could wait a few weeks for the new plastic kit) and then pick up a Defiler or two as they're nuts!
World Eaters: W-47 D-10 L-9
Necrons: W-19 D-3 L-2
Protectorate of Menoth: W-36 D-0 L-7
You don't say what weapons you have for your regular CSMs. Each squad of these guys needs a Champ with w Fist and 2x Meltaguns or 2x Plasmaguns.
All forms of Chaos marines inc' Berzerkers etc need Rhinos.
Chaos Terminators should have one model with a Chainfist, and one with a Heavy Flamer (which can be the same model as the CF). Use Plasma Pistols to model Terminators Bolters as Combi-Plasma Bolters.
You Lord needs Wings. The Wings from Posessed work well. In fact the basic Possessed models make very nice Lords, Aspiring Champions and Chosen, as long as you give them the correct weapons.
Before you even buy anything, you should convert your Chaos Space Marines into Nurgle Plague Marines. Why use regular Marines when you can use Marines that are tougher, harder to kill, much more customizable and Fearless? Make sure you give them 2 Meltaguns, and either 5-man or 7-man squads are recommended. Once you've done that, get Rhinos for all your troops choices. Then get a Daemon Prince or two. The rest is up to you.
For squad size, competitive builds generally take them in 7-8 man bundles.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
Nurgle marines (built in squads of 7)
Extra demon prince.
With your current models, you have a VERY VERY solid base to work from for multiple lists and multiple strategies. To be powerful though, you certainly need the two rhinos and demon prince.
I just started back up again myself. While we were gone, the got rid of Zerks extra movement, favoured units and all that wargear I used to use. You definitely need to rhino up your force now to cover your troops. Everyone's gone fully mech now. I still haven't played my World Eaters in the 5th ed. though.
Oh, and never, ever take a <10 man squad without a Rhino.
He's saying plague marines are usually taken in 7's and 8's. Plague marines can take two specials, regardless of squad size. Even a 5-man can take a pair of special weapons.
