I searched for a couple of ideas for alternative fiends, since i hate the GW produced ones. I didn't really find an alternative but i did come up with the solution below. Now, not saying that no-one have done this before i thought i might still share what i made since it's a cheap solution which a normal google search didnt bring up.
They're pretty simple if you got a little green stuff exp.
They're made of on box of daemonettes, two sets of elven steeds and greenstuff and beads.
Sorry 'bout the white backround which i later realised might be a little to light to fit the white bodies...
I really like them! Daemonette Centaurs, most excellent! The one thing I would suggest is that you use some green stuff to texture the backs of the horse bodies a little, Maybe a ridge of armor plates or some spines or something. But they are gorgeous just as they are, so feel free to ignore me Nice work!
Spines/armour plates ain't a bad idea, might do that if i make a batch more
I did something similar with the spiders from the goblin spider rider set. I cut of the mandibles and the front 4 legs. I glued the legs onto the sides so it fit better on the round base a Fiend normally comes on and looked more like a proper spider with the legs sticking out in all directions rather than just front & back. Then I glued & green-stuffed the top half of a daemonette onto the spider like you did with your centaurs. 2 boxes of daemonettes & 2 boxes of spiders give 3 units of 6 fiends with plenty of bits left over for other projects. The only problem is that my fiends are a lot smaller than the real fiend models, but no one has complained in the friendly games I've used them in.
The easier alternative is to just use the mounts from the new seekers, removing the saddle and perhaps adding daemonette arms to give it some claws.
WOW I really like them. I play khorne but I really apreciate the cost cutting of fiends since 20 dollars is a lot for one of them,
If you are interested in khorne bloodcrushers, I just used chaos knights, for the massive armored horses when painted deamonic, good great as a juggernauts and the armored knight on top represents the 3 plus save and if you paint him deamonic then he could be a bloodletter wearing lots of armor
I used Chaos Spawn to make my fiends, which worked well (I got the bits dirt cheap on ebay), but those seeker/fiend conversions do look really nice. If I was putting them together now, I'd probably use a couple of those sets to make my fiends.
