I'm trying to write up an army list, and have come across a most vexing dilemma.
For my 10 man CSM squads, I'm tossing up between either just using normal chaos space marines, or plague marines. Simply because there's only a 30pt difference between them.
My reasoning is this:
Because I'm using an all-Nurgle force, the CSM would have a Nurgle Icon anyway, hence why they are so close in points, and because I'm giving them 2 plasma guns and a plasma pistol, 30pts for Feel No Pain might save a few of those marines over the course of the game.
Maybe I'm just trying to find an excuse to field Plague Marines? Anyway, what's your opinion?

With a plasma squad, FNP is especially useful, which makes Plaguers even more appealing. Generally speaking, most players find the Icon of Nurgle a bit too expensive when compared with either basic Chaos Space Marines with the Glory Icon, or Plague Marines. For one thing, our basic marines are a very good deal for what you get. Adding +1T is difficult to justify for the point cost, and you might as well just take Plague Marines.

The defensive grenades are a very good thing to have with a plasma squad, if you rapid fire you are in range to be charged and you can not charge after firing rapid fire weapons. not giving your opponent the +1A is a good thing
This topic has been discussed at least a few times (check here for another chat about it).
The basic philosophy is to go Plague Marines if you're going Nurgle at all, though. I've been playing quite some time with 4 squads of PMs, and am only now actually assembling a vanilla CSM squad (I want to field some heavy weapons for a little variety).
