I have always wondered why, Abaddon. Leader of the black legion. The ultramarines of chaos (in the amount of fluff attention they get and most all rounders). Not ascended to become a daemon? Surely he can still keep his special weapons and maybe use them to a greater effect as a powerful and deadly daemon prince. Plus he would be immortal and I think he probably has earned it already, despite 12 failed Black Crusades.
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.”
1. the black crusades didn't fail, that is what imperial fanboys want you to believe.
2. Abbadon doesn't care for deamonhood until he has personally killed the emperor
3.he already is immortal as the most favoured champion of chaos
So, I have no factual evidence to support my claim, but Dreachon seems about right on to me. I always believed that opting to upgrade to a Daemon Prince brings weaknesses as well, it means you are now made up almost entirely of Warp, not just surrounded by it - this means you'll acquire some weaknesses, like the Grey Knights can banish your sorry buttocks into oblivion for a fair amount of time if they so choose, also, I imagine that it is difficult to survive and remain powerful for long amounts of time outside the Eye of Terror unless you create some Warp presence, like forcing a population to worship the Chaos gods, etc.
Abaddon is already as, or more powerful than the Daemon Primarchs, and remember that his mentor/father figure didn't opt for disfiguring daemonhood either, he bosltered himself, but didn't really mutate so much physically. And, as said, I think Abaddon wants to feel the Emperor's lifeblood with his own hands as the False Emperor's life fades away.
Just my own thoughts.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
I'm not sure about in the codex, but fluff-wise I don't think there is. In any case, Abaddon doesn't worship the chaos gods, he just uses their power for his own ends. They don't mind, as his goals align with theirs (destroy the Imperium)
In the fluff about Abaddon it already states that he don't want to become a deamon prince.
And for him to be as powerfull as the Daemon Primarch....no he is not, there is only 8 beings mightier than him, the 4 gods of chaos, their chosen Greater daemons and the Emperor (i m not tottaly sure about the Greater daemons thou).
