Hello, as recent convert from the Tau to Chaos, I want to field an Iron Warriors army and I have very little idea how to create an effective list that is like what the Iron Warriors would actually do.
Humanity is the ultimate, self-destructive being on this planet. We create some many very creative and gruesome ways to die yet we can never understand why such thinbgs vex us so.
CSM squads with dual special weapons, obliterators, terminators, chosen and even berzerkers are all good choices if you going for an IW themes.
In the old codex Iron Warriors could only take mark of chaos undevided which equates to IoCG. Cult troops and other god marks were not allowed. They also took plenty of vindicators and obliterators and were able to take more than any other CSM army. They also couldnt take daemons if I remember right.
These restrictions have gone in the new codex and players are free to take what they like but that shouldn't stop you following the Iron Warrior traditions. In apocalypse games you can also add an imperial guard basilisk to the force as IWs used to be able to take them.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Also in the old codex, you could take 4 Heavy support options, and only 2 fast attack. That's gone now, but should be someplace to start; always take 3 Heavy support options.
