so i had been running a dual DP list and was having good success with it, but kharn just intrigued me too much, so i ran him last night for the first time.
that dude single-handedly wiped out 3 squads of marines. i don't think my opponent appreciated what he could do, otherwise he wouldn't have rushed his troops up to him like he did.
an assault squad led by a chaplain charged kharn and his 3 remaining bezerkers, and kharn killed the entire squad on his first attack.
holy poop that guy is a beast.
overall he killed over 15 marines, and he only killed 3 or 4 of his buddies.

I haven't faced Kharn in a battle yet, but I use Lucius every game I play my Emperor's Children. He's not as lethal perhaps as Kharn, but his Armour of Shrieking Souls does have that nasty little surprise for the opponent. I too have found that he is quite able to take down a large number of the enemy in a single round of combat, but unfortunately my dice really hate me so it doesn't happen too often!Originally Posted by uber

give it time. your opponent will come to fear and loathe Kharn. Everytime I pull him out of my case I see my best friend's heart sink and the wheels turn on how he's gonna take him out. It's hilarious. He probably is the best value for his points of all our named HQ's (and a great looking model to boot).
I always use Kharn, and he always makes his points back in some way. Even if he doesnt make it to combat, my opponent generally used so much firepower to take him out early that the rest of my berzerkers went virtually unmolested.

If only he had eternal warrior! Though even without it, in my games he always causes untold carnage.

while i would love for kharn to be an eternal warrior, it would be unfair at his price to give him that.
as is the only way to stop him is to either shoot him up before he gets into CC or to hit him with a fist.
if he had EW he would be way better than abby pointswise. i think having both abby and kharn in the codex is very smart, as it gives us the option to have a badass EW HQ if we want to pay extra for it.
Ive never seen it but someone i know once saw Kharn run through about 10 tanks, one after the other.
well, on the charge he has the same penetration as a DP but more attacks!

so it's a trade off between the range of the DP vs the attacks of kharn when it comes to anti-mech. as much as i love kharn i can't help but think that the DP is the better choice.
1. he can use a mark to boost his invul or toughness to increase survivability.
2. immune to instant death
but we'll see as i plan on running each of them.
