    1k sons...

...aaah, I remember the days of 2nd edition, when 1k sons could have special weapons, and assault weapons...and grenades...and heavy weapons...

...and yes, they were rubrics back then too...

Suddenly they lost all that in 3d ed, I wonder why?

    ...soooo sad

i am going to try out some TS this weekend. i have to say i'm not overly-jazzed about them. they are really pricey, and all they really get is a 4++ and AP3 rounds. if their BS were 5 then i would be a lot more pumped about them.

An enhanced BS would be nice, but what about an aspiring sorcerer that acted more as a tool kit? A kind of "thinking man's marine," rather than just blunt firepower. Perhaps the sorcerer could have a psychic power that would provide his squad with a twin-linked ability or could remove cover saves from an enemy target.

Twin-linked is slightly better than a BS5, although being a psi power, it could be negated by Hoods. That's a fair trade between the two.

those are grand suggestions. paying 60 points + whatever the single power i choose is really high considering that none of them really benefit the squad all that much.
also, since i always have at least one MoT DP the sorceror looks kind of impotent.

Well I love 1K sons, but I have to agree that the sorcerer is overpriced. Now if it included a power then I would understand, but I have to pick and pay for the power w/o the option of NOT doing it. But the power that works in my army is the Gift of Chaos, mostly because it boosts my CC ability, which is a 1k player weakness, that and low model count.

Personally I find it easy to forget the old days when they've got AP 3 bolters... (and wind of chaos the way I play it). MEQ's don't forget that in a hurry...

when i move my list up to 2000, i'll need to pick up another troop unit. i'm tempted to make it TS. noise marines are good and all, but i just don't like the emporer's children at all. that and i really like the thousand sons.

Damn you thorpe and that other codex writer who did alot but no one knows his name!

If the aspiring sorc was just 60 points it wouldn't be so bad but 60 + spells is lame. Also, the only spells that are even worth it is doombolt.

Just realized recently that warptime is pretty fun actually. Its a nice buff to your power weapon but it works for the MELTABOMB too! Rerolling to hit with the meltabomb is amazing since it'll pretty much almost auto-pen most stuff.

This is a bid of an aside, but Mister Thorpe has openly expressed his disdain for Chaos Space Marines. So long as he's running the show, we're kind of in a pickle, don't you think?
