I am thinking of starting a counts as demon army in the near future, and before I design my list and begin conversions I have a fairly simple question regarding the best scoring unit for my purposes.
My army will be almost entirely tzeentch, as I have virtually no interest in combat within 40k. I will therefore use horrors, flamers and chariot heralds as the core of my force.
My question is will horrors be able to capture (obviously they can't hold from the beginning) and hold objectives, they are after all rather fragile.
With this in mind what are my other options? Am I right in saying nurglings cannot hold objectives? (swarms), demonettes are even more fragile, bloodletters are not much better, and while plaguebearers are the toughest they are almost as bad as the horrors in cc....
Any advice/experience welcome, and thanks in advance...

My main strategy is to just kill all my opponents scoring units and sit on 1 objective with a mid-size plaugebearer squad, but (besides that 1 squad) I use a Khorne-Tzeentch mix
With regards to scoring unit,s only 2 are even considered in my book and that's horrors and plaguebearers. That's not to say that the other scoring units are bad, they just have have no place in my army.
Holding an objective, you just can't beat plaguebearers especially if you can get them into cover. You can just go to ground and hold the object all day. You also need to remember they have T5 and FNP plus they wound everything on 4+. By far the best objective holder.
Horrors,........ for the last 2 months, horrors just haven't been hitting the mark. I was even considering dropping them for my standard list, unit this weekend. A until of 10 + changeling shot then assault a 5 man unit of terminators and wiped them out. Admittedly the dice gods were in my favor but still, the look of the space marines players face was priceless.
If you can keep horrors out of assault, then they can differently hold an objective. There 4+ inv save is nothing to shake a stick at. All those massive pie plate shots, you can just wipe away. A 10 man unit (I wouldn't even consider anything less to hold and objective to be effective anyway) plus a changeling holding an objective can be very effective you just need to keep them out of assault. Weapon Skill of 2, 3S, 3T and I3 is a recipe for disaster.
And you are correct that nurglings are not scoring units (swam special rule).

I agree, Horrors have a 50/50 chance to shake off any hit they face. That's not bad. If your units are being hit with Ordnance weapons that are strength 8, it doesn't matter if your toughness is 3 or 6. Only with small arms fire will there be more shots to save and you'll save 50% of all of them. Put Fateweaver with a group of them and see how they last! They last longer than Bloodletters or Daemonettes to me anyway.
Plaguebearers and Horrors are about the only scoring units to use in the codex. In my 1750+ games I generally take 2x Plaguebearer Squads and 1 Horror squad with the Changeling. Anything less I generally just use 2x PBs.
I've found horrors to be extremely resilient, however if they are on an objective they are not making full use of their battlefield role. To make their points worth taking you should be firing with them, and unfortunately that requires you to be within 18. When I run my tzeentch army I'll run 2 5 man sqauds of horrors to hold objectives, but rarely do I shoot for an objective off the start: I always double back after I make quick use of the opponents scoring units. Troops, esepcially bolters I find make the biggest mess of horrors because of the sheer volume of shots you have to save against. It feels great to roll saves against a battle cannon, but against 20 bolter shots you just feel molested. Kill the body and the head will fall
