Alright, I've been giving it a lot of thought and I wanted to see what you thought, dear forum.
My slaaneshi force is expanding at a fair clip and soon I will pick up my second HQ choice. Right now, I have an amazingly impressive daemon prince. He has a lot of table presence, commands a lot of respect and generally puts the fear in...
Almost every time I've seen someone try posting a list with a slaaneshi sorcerer in it, the advice has been "just get a second prince". I really don't want to, since my prince doesn't enjoy sharing power and wants everyone to know that he is the one in charge.
My question then is: Where would you put that sorcerer so that he could lash a lot without dying?
I've been thinking in a unit of raptors, which could also screen my prince and give him a 4+ cover... but if I make the raptor unit too small, I'd imagine he'd get shot up... if I make it too big, the points drain rather quickly...
You couldn't go far wrong with a unit of noise marines or slaaneshi marines in a rhino, but I don't have a lot of experience with sorcerers.

Not many folk do! ^_^
If you're using a Slaaneshi PA Sorc, I assume you're using Lash. In that case, plop him in a Rhino with a squad of Noise Marines (if you're very Slaaneshi) with a Doom Siren, and some Sonic Blasters. That's good for disrupting the field, then charging after a salvo of assault weapon shots when it's most beneficial.
I can't really see a TDA Slaaneshi Sorc being as effective. That's more for Nurgle or Tzeentch.
I run a Slaanesh sorcerer with Warptime, and only if I have the points, a familiar and Lash. He rides with 8-9 Noisemarines including a Noisechamp with a power weapon in a rhino. His extremely high I plus warptime make him pleasantly killy, even against other ICs, and if all else fails he's got his force weapon. It's certainly not an ideal setup as he gets to use only one of two (or three) psychic powers per turn, but like a swiss army knife of pain, he's got what I need to get a job done. His noisy mates and their rhino also make him quite hard to kill - he invariably lives longer than my Slaan DP.
I had a battle on Friday where I fielded two TDA Emperor's Children Sorcerers for the first time. I was playing against GKs, also for the first time! The game was a bog-standard "12 inches on, romp and kill each other" rather than a mission-based one, and there was a reasonable amount of building scenery on the table.
One of the Sorcerers was joined to a 9-man unit of Noise Marines, and the other was concealing himself as best he could from the [insert suitable word here!] Vindicare Assassin who was perched in a building opposite.
The range of the Lash power is pretty reasonable, and married up well with the range of the sonic blasters, so it was really a case of using the double lash to drag the enemy into a killzone. However, hiding the second sorcerer was not easy due to the vantage point of the Vindicare, so even with plenty of terrain on the table I still lost two wounds to the Shieldbreaker shots. Moral in this story: put him in a unit.
I had done this with the first sorcerer, using his Lash power second and making sure that the Vindicare couldn't draw a bead on him ever! This resulted in the Noise Marines and the TDA sorcerer ending up in combat with a bunch of GK Terminators (4, I think) but the Initiative 6 of the Sorcerer matched that of the 3 halberd-armed Grey Knights. The fourth GK had a sword which allowed the Noise Marines to attack next, thus protecting the Sorcerer from a second model in BtB contact. It took three turns, but eventually the GKs were defeated and the Sorcerer still stood with 5 Noise Marines.
The advantages of the Noise Marine unit are its higher Initiative rating and the high rate of fire it can put out if you take sonic weapons. If your sorcerer joins such a unit he is protected by these two elements.
Interesting comment there about the Slaanesh DP not lasting as long. I have been considering introducing one such model to my list, but I'm still not convinced to do so because of the "Shoot me" type of target model he makes. I enjoyed the two TDA Sorcerers' performance on Friday.

"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
Can't the vindicare choose where to allocate the wound in a unit? I thought that was one of his strong points...
win some, lose some
The Lash + Sonics setup is pretty sweet - and if you have the points, a Doomsiren is even sweeter. "Why don't you boys waltz over here into a teardrop shape for me..."
I know it's not a fit for your army but the only time I've used a lash sorc was in my Khorne army, lol. He was in a Land Raider with Kharn and 6 zerkers, he was just there to pull things closer to them if I was forced to get out and to make sure Kharn did not get BtB with a damn fist.
