I haven't had Fateweaver long and I was thinking of trying different things with him. Has anyone tried a good Bloodletter list that used Fateweaver to keep them safe? I usually don't use Bloodletters because the generally die before getting into combat, but with Fateweaver and his zone of protection, they may get a second look from me. I don't have crushers and I know them or fiends are the preferred units to go with Fateweaver, but I only have 5 Fiends, zero crushers and 20 Bloodletters, so I figured I may try something different for a change. Even Plaguebearers with Fateweaver may work with two chances to save then FNP, they may do well. But I can't stand Plaguebearers in combat, I just can't. So I'm looking for feedback on Fateweaver/ Bloodletter combos first.
Honestly.... You need crushers.... Pbs and fateweaver might be interesting if you want to make an Epi list with some Nurgle daemos. But its probably too slow against fast mech stuff.
Bloodletters just dont have the staying power with their +5 save. They need a distraction unit.. Thats where the crushers come in. You could mix the pbs and bloodletters with nurgle princes. But again, your princes, would need Iron hide, and wings in order to be resilliant and keep up with fast armies. And then your really getting away from your 20 letters you want to use.

Actually, I was working on a strange daemon list using Scarbrand and Screamers, to deal with hordes of armor. The List takes the big red guy, two HoS on Chariots, 18 Fiends, 30 Screamers, 10 Plaugebearers and leaves me with about 300 points leftover, which I am still not sure what to spend on it.
But for Fateweaver, run three squads of 12 Flamers. This may sound like a bad move, but people freak out when they see that many flamers, who now all get to re-roll their saves. I have done this, it gets messy. People freak out and forget tactics as they try with all their might to end them. You have to be smart about what you attack and why with this list or else you will just be ruined. Always take out units that can rapid fire of cause the flamers greif first. Its not like a lascannon is going to end the flamers at all, or Fateweaver for that matter. Then rest of your army I find is free to to rain down on the foes as they are busy trying to clean up this mosnter of a mess. Cheap Daemon Princes go great with this as they will see less fire or if you make em big and scary, get reroll saves. No one will care about your mobs of bloodletters when 32 flamers are ruining everything. Other then Fateweaver and the flamers, keep everything else in the list cheap and in good numbers.
I win fine without Crushers, I really do. Since I haven't had Fateweaver long, I've learn to win without him. But I have a lot of Bloodletters and I just never use them anymore. I was thinking of something different like Trouser Tyrant. I want to see if I can win, thinking outside the box. That is to say, moving away from the standard Crusher list.
I find to make a diffrent list, I look at units I like that and figure out what kind of syngry can I make around them. The kind that isn't spammed in everyone's list. A few examples I have done with my forces...
Screamers are shunned to to needing 6's anything that isn't crawling along. This codex just happens to have a guy who is a bit mobile who gives re-rolls on the attack which armor (unless walkers) don't gain a bounus from. Walkers have get in trouble with having a low amount of attacks against Screamers who have a nifty ++4 save.
For Chaos Marines:
Use Chosen and Havocs as melta spammers and use Daemon Princes as bait to lure things into a plauge marine wall (backed by the melta spam)
For Grey Knights:
Take a Grand Master, 3 Techmarines and Inquisitor Karamazov all with Orbital Strike Relay. Take three, 6 man Interceptor Squads and Rilfeman dreads. Bring a henchmen squad made for killing tanks. Every turn hide in cover as far as way as possible and fire off 5 Orbital Strike Relays on anythign sitting on objectives and on the last turn, make your Interceptors take objectives with as many as the man with the grand plan will let you.
For Servents of Decay:
Three Leman Russes made for tank hunting, as many zombies as you own, Necrosis, 3 Melta Disciples of Xaphan, then profit.
For Tyrant's Legion:
Bring more space marines to the battle field than orks and then as many artillery batteries you bought from forge world. For extra fun stick murder cultists in flying fast transports.
Anywho, I digress. Daemons have all kinds of neat things you can try like-
Fateweaver with a wall of flamers!
Great Unclean One's who are fed Daemon Princes of Slaanesh via Pavane!
Kugrath for Grey Knights!
Three Soul Grinders in small games!
Fateweaver with Bloodthirster and three daemon princes w/ wings, each tailed to do a diffrent job!
Suicide Seekers/Fiends into sqauds to hold them there for Epiddy and his tallymen to catch up to them to bring the pain!
Bring stupid amounts of Beats of Nurgle (like three squads of seven) and deep strike them close with a few large squads of bloodletters behind them. Let the oppent feel the frustration.
These may sound like they don't work, but with a little charismam and fielding large units of (what you know to be shit) squads your foes have never seen before, you can tell them what a monster they are. They will fall for this once, but not again, you have to capitalize on that and and adjust your tactics, then bam! Akward one of a kind army that you now know how to use.
Or god forbid you use any Forge World expansions and make the army actually win at the tourny! (Around here, everything from GW tornies to small game store contests allow the use of Forge World stuff in a normal game unless it is a super heavy or a flyer.) I was actually going to post a topic on how many Bloodslaughters and Blight Drones should I rock in my list.
Anyways, I digress again. If you have so many un-used bloodletters sitting around, play WFB, you will put them to use there without question.
