Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hail LO'ers. Watchwood, a fellow LOer pointed out to me the Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought experimental rules up on Forgeworld. They mention that "Until a specific variant of this unit is featured in a forthcoming book, the Contemptor as listed here may also be used in a Codex Chaos Space Marines army." This interested me. With rumours of a combined Daemon/CSM Codex around, and myself a small-time Daemon player, I'm very much interested in what the new weapons are. . . problem is, they're blurred out!
However, I have figured out a way to decypher it. Not using any magic (I wish), I figured out what font they're using, and how they created the effect, and re-created it, except, keeping the letters visible as well. To decypher them, one simply has to line up the letters from the "codex" alphabet I've created that looks identical to what forgeworld did to their PDF, and bam. Sneak peak at new wargear options, possibly from the new CSM codex (or combined codex!)
Here's where I come to you: A hundred heads is better than one for this. I will attempt to decypher the wargear (as will Watchwood), but I ask the community: Who would be interested in figuring out what these wargear options are? I have the GIMP file ( though I can save it in PDF). Gimp is free, and is pretty good at what it does. Some of the smudged letters are pretty easy (Like "gun" or the obvious "Twin-Linked" or "with inbuilt" etc..), the others require more patience.
Anyhow, if you reply back to this thread, or send me a PM, I can send you the XCF or PDF file (your choice, really), and see if we can't see what GW has in store for CSM!
Also, they didn't say "codex", they said "book" which includes FW specific stuff as well, so probably a FW book with rules for an imperial version and a chaos aligned version(and I bet it's crazed)...
win some, lose some
"Take their gold, burn their homes, kill their familes and enslave their souls. Show them no mercy...oh and could you post these letters while you're out?"
-Malekith, Witch King of Naggaroth.
At any rate, there is deviation from the point of the original post: smudgy deciphering!
I hope they don't combine a Daemons and CSM codex, ever! As a Daemon player first and CSM player second, I want the "mystical" powers of the Daemons to stay "mystical" and NOT psyker abilities. Combining codices would tempt the writer to take the path of least resistance and make it all psyker abilities. Having all psyker abilities on Daemons is like having a gun you need to roll to fire. Mystical powers are all we have!
I really need to focus on a single army...
