I've been toying with the idea of starting up my World Eaters list. I've found this on the GW site Chaos Space Marines: World Eaters Tactica: Page 1 | Chaos Space Marine Articles | Armies of Warhammer 40,000 Articles | Games Workshop , and wondered if its a good guide?
Any pointers, you may have, are also welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Its an ok list, 10/10 for fluff but if your looking to have a chance against another army I'd swap a few things round like adding a couple more obliterators, replacing the other predator for a vindicator and trying to get a rhino for all the bezerker squads, maybe swapping the lord for another Daemon Prince. Its a good guide though. The conversions are excellent. It makes me want to start my Chaos army all over again and do pure Khorne.
One shall stand, and one shall fall.
A proper World Eaters list doesn't field any Obliterators as they cannot bear the Mark of Khorne. There's never been any updated rules as to what makes a World Eaters army a World Eaters army, so the 3rd Ed codex guidelines still apply. Ignore those restrictions and you're just a Khorne heavy war band and not a proper World Eater.
The trick to playing World Eaters is unsurprisingly to play aggressively - but not recklessly. You should be moving in to approach your enemy at every turn, but it's not always worth giving up that rhino cover-save to get a few inch closer. Use terrain to your advantage as you advance and when you finally get close enough to assault, you want to do so with multiple units at the same time so that there's no way your opponent can deal with them all. Having some fire support is a good thing, but as chaos that quickly gets pricey. Autocannon predators with lascannon sponsoons are still good because unlike every other predator load out, this one hasn't received any point reductions in newer marine books - so it's still just as good as the marine variant point for point unlike the autocannon heavy bolter variant which costs significantly less to field as a loyalist for example.
Don't overdo it on heavy fire support though, try and rely on hybrid units as much as possible - basically, anything that can shoot out a tank with a meltagun and then assault whatever drops out of it. The majority of your weaponry should be close ranged as that's how the World Eaters fight -> Shooting to soften up before the assault. Melee is generally a poor way to deal with vehicles as it leaves you open to getting shot up once it's your opponents turn, so ideally you want to carry enough melta weaponry in your list to crack stuff open so you can put your axe to the juicer kills inside. Here's a good link for conversion inspiration - a proper old school World Eaters army before the 4th Ed codex came and dropped a steaming pile of doo-doo over all the personality and fluff the older codices had;

Thanks, to the both of you, for your imput and the link.
