A few friends & I have been digesting the newest batch of 'cron rummors/confirmations now that some white dwarfs are making the rounds, and we've so far come to the following conclusions;
a) Necrons are going to force a massive shift away from the pure mech meta. A good thing overall honestly, as only GK's will be left untouched by the 'crons newfound ability to stun-lock the crap out of anyone! Plus, it's not like the 'crons are hurting anymore in the anti-tank department either with the addition of a 2-shot melta weapon (that makes all other shooting at the same target twin-linked!), a 4-shot twin-linked S7 gun and the 5-man courts each sporting S8/ap2 guns to name a few...
b) Necron mech is godly good. They can now spam the table with av13/14 like no others can, plus living metal to help ignore stun-lock in turn (not nearly as good as GK's ability there mind!) Plus most/all their vehicles IIRC are skimmers meaning they can move about easier.
Barges are beyond powerfull too, thus expect an Overlord w/warscythe on barge to become a staple in every damn list at tournaments! (you know, the guy who can zip 24", get 3x S7 power weapon/2D6 pen on rear armour attacks, that hit on a strait 4+... Oh and on a 6 to-hit he picks the target of that attack so bye-bye icons!)
Seriously, this is going to kill us. My friends all had a bit of a chuckle at the thought of how the hell Daemons are supposed to deal with that much av13 at range... Not to mention that while the 'lith got nerfed a bit, our assaulty anti-tank is still going to strugle to hit stuff. (only a Doomsday Ark will ever sit still - look for everything else to move at least 6"/turn.)
Won't know the real particulars of stuff like the auto-remove abilities or the 'ctan shards nastiness till the codex comes out, as well as the other special characters... Still, I think necrons are now a very bad match-up for us.
But hey, at least we're still above tau & sisters on the power scale, right?!!
The good side is that only a single hit, even a glancing one, will remove the Quantum Shielding for vehicles. And we can still destroy the 'Crons in close combat, since they have low initative and transports means that there won't be as many groups of 20 Warriors to deal with, only groups of 10 or so. And now maybe our Screamers can be awesome again, since Monoliths aren't virtually immune to meltabombs now.
Though, not a daemon player i have to say thisont freak out.The codex aint out yet,it hasnt been playtested no solid results yet.All we have is scrap info and rumors.Same thing happened with the SW,BA and GKs and honestly i dont see many of them placing top tiers in the tourneys.
We can hope that the codex band wagon will give ample opportunity to test those new necrons and reach results.
Also dont be scared of pure stats until you see them on the table, there are many units that have awesome statlines but just dont work for one reason or another.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
They ARE the top of the food chain. They win everything. If this dex is as mean as ANY of them, it's not gonna be pretty.

Bum-rush BA's full of assault marines & stormraven hammer/shield termies supported by FNP priests are pure win. Expensive yes, but very do-able at my local meta's range of 1850-2500pts events.
Same goes for BA or SW razor-spam - it's good and cheap for the punch it packs, has more strengths than inherrant weaknesses and is very difficult for alot of armies to deal with.
Sure 'crons are an unkown still at this point, but with more and more tidbits coming from WD and the codex is sure to soon fall into leaky hands, my hopes for a dark eldar style list is fading pretty damn fast!
As a daemon player, I'm just getting that added notion of yet another 'dex that's overly harsh to us in particular, especially considering who wrote the damn thing!
So from the latest throne of skulls one guy munched some grey knights for breakfast with deathwing. On general he had one defeat(orcs)and one draw(marines).
And on the hard boys that i watched till the semifinals,i know that the positions were deathwing, greyknigths,Ig respectively.
Other gk positions were 5th and 12th.The BA were 8th and bottom.
I dont say they are crap, but chances are that 70-30 in my book that the guy that plays them has any idea whats going on with the army and is not a band wagoner.
Every codex can be managed. They all have their failings. If an old codex with two viable lists can come on top,i believe that all newer ones can deal with them.
Even daemons(which too btw have two i think viable builds),i ve seen it and i wont stop saying it.You wont see warp quake lists in those tournaments except if you are unlucky and play against a noob(yes on that instant it is considered bad luck :p)
As you see i dont base my opinions on my local meta.If i did that i would play a single list to deal with the bandwagon and another one to deal with marines, and thats it.In fact i dont base my opinions on meta at all but thats another story.

While I haven't been keeping up with the necron rumours lately, my gut reaction is that we will be ok. Still, I'll reserve my judgement until the actual dex comes out.
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
I ve been browsing the site today, and it seems Ward has done his magic again.Ill keep my pants on though until i read the full codex and have some match ups. Some things sound crazy though.More so than the GKs.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
I think the DS-screwing abilities could be just as silly as warp quake though... A good deal of the rummors hint that alot of their abilities are 12" range or so, so this could be yet another nail in the coffin of our poor flamers.
Will also be crucial to see how the 'crons ability to bring in re-inforcements as soon as the enemy deep strike nearby works - again, it could be very OP vs us depending on how it's worded...
Not too scared of the C'tan ability to count all terrain as dangeorus since our invulns protect us there... The night fighting shinanigans might just be a real boon for some of our assaulty units too if the 'cron player doesn't pack a solar pulse or two. (I'll laugh at the first idiot who takes the Stormlord without a solar pulse Cryptek!!!)
I've just ordered my 'cron codex, hopefully it'll be on my doorstep in time for my trainride into Toronto in a couple weeks! That'll give me a good 2 hours there-and-back to read it over!
