Ok, right now I play necrons and I figure, hey if you play ultimate evil you might as well play some lesser evils as well.
I love necrons, don't get me wrong but I want a army that allows some custimization beyond "which way is my gauss flayer pointing"
I don't like Khorne (wheee, it's a red cross blood drive) nor nurgle (I've got vd, you've got vd, we've all got vd)....
So I've narrowed it down to Slaanesh or Tzeech. I love the idea of 2 wound terminators and str 8 ap 2 shots from my aspiring champs but at the same time the daemonettes and the combat drugs call to me.....so I figured I'd ask for some input.
here's the question: What do you like and dislike about Slaanesh or Tzeech and why?
I started with chaos myself and there are a lot of conversion oppertunities ith different armies. It depends on what sort of army you want - thousand sons have the high power magic and the two wounds as you said and emperors children have the combat drugs and deamonettes but have you thought about black legion (all round chaos goodness), Iron warriors (they can have the basilisk and vindicator) but out of the two you specified I would choose Thousand Sons because they look cool and have great conversion prospects take there terminators for example.... But I would seriously consider word bearers as they can summon ALL deamon types And the Iron Warriors they can have no demons except a demon prince but can have the two IG units and have more oblitorators so tell me what sort of army you want and I will tell you what army best suits your needs

I want a primarily shooty army that can mix it up in CC if need be. I want something flexible with a variety of tactics, not just "charge into CC" or "stand back and shoot". Basically I want options. And I want powerweapons in more than one place.
If you want a shoot army that can mix it up in CC, choose one of the undivided legions. Thousand sons arent real good at CC (no bonus for chargin, stirke last), and SLanessh isnt that good at range (not as much pain and shorter range weapons). THousand sos are the better out of those two, but:
Night Lords: Fast, CC
Iron Warriors: Shooty, CC
Black Legion: All round
Word Bearers: All round, 'horde'
Alpha Legion: Sneaky, all round, no specialisations
I am currently moving my army towards a Slannesh themed/Undivided combo with aspirations of all Emporer's children. As far as not being shooty that's bunk because they are. Granted it costs extra (monetarily and points wise) to load up your shooty squads with sonic blasters and blastmasters but it's worth it. They still have a 2' range and twice as many shots as a pistol on the move at range because they are assault weapons. If you stand those squads still they can crank out 3 times as many shots as a pistol on the move but for 2' intead of 1' and the Blastmaster goes 3' and can pin. It's pretty easy to move these guys into battlefield controlling fire positions and still crank out the hate!
You toss in the warp scream ability that lowers opponents initiative in cc and remember these guys are fearless to boot and your ccw squads are devastating!
Make these favorite units and get a free champion? Sign me up! Plus deamonettes w/power weapons! What is it Christmas?!!
You already know about the lords abilities.. So all I can say now is... What are you waiting for?
Slaanesh Noise Marines can be quite the nifty shooting bunch, being 24 points a model if you give them all sonic-blasters instead of bolters to basically make them Assault 2 or Heavy 3 bolters. If loading the whole squad isn't your style, a few of those and a blastmaster can also pack a punch.
Tzeenetch's Marines, while quite thick with wounds, is so low on options for it's troop choices that I really can't stand them. While bolters are nice, having a few special weapons besides whatever psychic power the aspiring champion has would've been nice.

If you want a very different gaming experience from Necrons, prob go 4 the Alpha legion or Black legion if you wanna use a lot of daemonic stuff.
Actually Night Lords are all round, you can merely make them fast(er), more combat orientated or shooty as you prefer. If you look around you'll see some NL armies that fly around shooting stuff up, some that use stealth and shoot stuff and others which just use bikes and raptors to mash up the enemy in combat.Originally posted by Takaetun@Oct 20 2004, 07:29
