Ive been mass buying old Deamon Armies from people in my gaming club, and breaking down all the old models and repainting them and rebuilding them from the base up.
Ive roughly got 2k of each god, and 4k of Khorne now since Ive got a rather large collection of Khornite Deamons be for Hand
After some Extensive playtesting, and suggestions, and some massive Beatings from Elfdar and Dark Elfdar, Ive min maxed this list like the rest of the Tools
Tzeentch Herald on Chariot-bolt, Legion, Master
Tzeentch Herald on Chariot-bolt, legion, Master
7 Screamers of Tzeentch
As of late I try to get the first turn, instead of giving it to the other player. This is because I have not been running Icons all that much, and I got the Golden crop of Board Space. I know that they lose one Turn, but they do not get the first move towards terrain, or first move towards objectives, or spread out/board space control. Having the ability to form the Kairos bubble wherever I want in front of one corner of their army is awesome.
My First Wave against most Armies out there is 3 units of fiends, Kairos, both the Heralds, and either the Screamers for early Tank Hunting/Fleshounds for Light tank Hunting, or a Deamon Prince for longfang/devastator/Dreadnaught Bunker. I always Pick a side of the Board that seems weaker for the other player, this is hard with MSU spam in most armies, but I try anyways, if not, I just pick one that is more forgiving for me to deepstrike in. After deepstrike, I run in all Units to Kairos, or take some popshots with Kairos and the Heralds if it is Dark Elfdar.
Second Wave is of course everything left. As Far as Tactics goes with them, I try to Drop Both the Princes in the center of their shooty Vehicles, or near their Dreadnaught Spam, or Near Devastator Esque Bunkers. THe FleshHounds Go Chase Down Light Vehicles alongside the Fiends, or double up with the Fiends for mass Charges. The Screamers look for Tanks of all sizes, or work as screen for the rest of my units, or a hide near Kairos and turboBoost onto Objective
Elites: Good. Try to add the might upgrade for wound allocation to keep more models on the table. Remember fiends cannot climb levels in buildings so taking 3 units of them (pluss the fleshounds) may be a problem in urban heavy terrain.
Troops: Sturdy but for 2000 point list I would prefer to see more. I use horrors and PBs and love the combination.
Fast: Hmmmm, It is here I would shave points for other things I think.
Heavy: Cheap and effective. Sometimes I add Gaze too fo a secondary use against infantry.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Agree mostly with the angry kitty above!
HQ: as said, it's pretty much perfect. Though as an added idea, if opponents in your aea are into a bit of list tailoring, consider swaping out those heralds for Skarbrand when/if you come up against thos nasty Grey Knights!
They already have the advantage of prefered enemy, so Skarbrand is of no bonus to them but 100% benifit to you!
Elites: I'd consider dropping 1 unit of fiends for a wound allocation shinanigan squad of crushers. Also gives you a hitty squad who can climb up buildings and they do scare the crap out of most players.
Troops: I'd look to add a unit or two of 5 Horrors + Bolt. Also take the Changeling as he's the best 2.5 skaven slave upgrade in the game!
Plaguebearers are great for sitting on objectives in cover and just going to ground for most of the game... 3++/FnP at T5 takes forever to remove.
Fast: Drop 1 unit of hounds to get those horrors + crushers. I find 1 unit is sufficient for what you'd use them for and against gunlines they can typically multi-assault a couple of units due to everything being so damn clumped together.
This also has the added benifit of opening up the 3rd slot so you can split up your Screamers into 2 units of 3/squad. Most players I find are reluctant to waste an entire squad on 3 piddly little guys, especially when they don't seem that threatening and cost so few pts. (but then, my local uses VP's in place of KP's) This also allows you to spread your anti-tank out a bit more as well.
Heavy: Looks solid! Another build to consider playing about with as well; MoN + wings + noxious touch = 'uber character & MC killer. 2+ to-wound typically with re-rolls thanks to his already high strength will quickly carve through just about anything.
I've recently switched from 2x bolt princes to 1 bolt prince and the nurgle prince and it works a treat!
Hope this helps,
Thanks for the Advice everyone. I am not Defending myself, but just Explaing my thoughts comapred to yours, but your Suggestions will be taken for future purposes.
I do not have Crushers in this list because I use them way too much in my other lists, the idea with the Fiends and Kairos was that they can easyly gain cover, so a re-rollable 4+ is pretty solid.
As far as Pink Horrors go, I have been Experimenting by taking out a Screamer and a PlagueBearers Unit for a small 6 man unit of Pink Horrors with Bolt. Its nice to have them in the First Wave for an all Shooting Wave of 2 Princes, Kairos, Horrors, and 2 Chariots.
Also as far as Nurgle Princes goes, I have tried them be for, but for 215 points I can get a tzeentch Prince and 5 PlagueBearers, and Regardless of toughness 6, they still drop as fast from DarkEldar Firepower, and Grey Knight Gunz.
MAD CAT MAD CAT MAD CAT
Yeah it has been a Problem with all the Beasts in this Army, but as far as the Rules Goes I was under the impression that even though Beasts cannot move to the upper levels, they may still assualt as per the rules for assualting through Buildings/ruins levels goes, but I may be mistaken. If you got any opinions please say them.
Everyone is different - I like Hide, Bolt and Gaze on my Prince. I LOVE Pink Horrors in units of 8ish with Bolt and Changling. I've just never had a lot of luck with Plaguebearers against anything but objective games. With Plaguebearers, I just seem to miss the 3 shots each too much that the Horrors bring. My favourite Elites are Flamers to be honest, but Fiends or Crushers work well. I Think Daemons are blessed with pretty good Elite choices. I've never been struck on our Fast Attack selection at all. My buddy, when he played Daemons, used to use a ton of Flesh Hounds until he found that other units work better. I say, whatever works for you, used it.
