Ok il start of with this, Im a Nurgle nut, I love all things Nurgley in Warhammer and Warhammer Fantasy (or Nurglich if your Skaven)
My entire army is nurgley, my Deamon Princes, my Defilers, my Rhinos etc.
Now being devoted to Plague Marines gets a bit dull after 10,000 Years of constant war, so I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with ideas on how a nurgle devoted Nurgle Marine would come to possess the same aspects as a Khorne Berserker, a Thousand Son, and a Noise Marine.
Examples iv thought up so far are as follows:
Plague Beserker (AKA Foaming Mouth Marine)
Thinking of fluff and how to convert this guy was easy. A breed of Plague Marine who are infected with the worst rabies the galexy has known, with rusty chainswords and an crazed urge to infect everyone with extream predudice.
I imagine these guys being more of a red/brown rusty colour over the usual green goo my plague marines have, and instead of all the knives you see on PMs, rust choked chainswords.
Another breed of Plague Marine not oftern seen, So encrusted with scabs and tumors that whats left of their bodies have become little more than solid bone fused intotheir crusted armor, resulting in a slow automotus movement. Flesh and muscle is no longer important to them, driven on only by their sheer force of devotion to Father Nurgle, they are able to shrug off power weapons and even the most violent of explosions. Their bolters are loaded with the most foul creations nurgles followers can bring to war, each bolt efectively a small blight grenade capable of detonateing into a highly toxic acid when detonated, melting through all but the toughest armor. Leading these crimes of nature are the acolytes of Nurgle sorcerers, driveing his will through their almost mindless husks so that his concentration will become honed and one day become a fully fleged sorcerer lord of nurgle.
These guys I imagine with a boney shade to them with red scabs at the joints. All equiped with bolters save the sorcerer of nurgle which is a whole other conversion.
Now Noise marines... I have No idea how to explaine how plague marines could ever be similar to these guys at all. The Sonic Blaster? How can I explane a nurgle bolter that shoots more shots without it being as boreing as 'It shoots more bolts'? The Doom Siren I thought would basikly be the champion throwing up on his enamys. The Blast Master... I have no idea where to even start with that one.
As for the higher I value that Noice marines have, anyone know any diseases that make you paranoide or jumpy?
Let me know if you guy have any thought or comments on these ideas.
And No I dont want to hear anyone say 'Why dont you just have a muli-god army?' NURGLE ALL THE WAY BABY!
I like your Khorne Beserker idea, seems very nurgley... but I must admit I'm only partially keen on your Plague sons...
What I might suggest for them would be instead of the current set-up, go with them being infected by the zombie plague instead... effectively make them vegetables in their own armor, driven forward merely as extentions of the will of Papa Nurgle! The gun thing, I like though.
Noise Marines Noise Marines... I'm personally a bit stummped there too... as for your multi-shot bolter, one idea I do have, although flimsy, is that they don't fire a bolt per se, rather they fire a kind of sludge ball at the enemy, that splits into several smaller sludge balls as it travels through the air... other than that, I'm stumped...
You could also make them scitzophrenic maybe to make them paranoid/jumpy?... As if they're hearing the whispers of Nurgle/his demons...
I dunno, hope that lot helps.
For the Blastmaster 'single frequency' shot: say that the gun functions as a type of grenade launcher. Now, the grenade can be either be a stock stranded grenade filled with poison/disease that creates a cloud when it impacts (the blast marker), or in stead of a grenade, the marine tears a a big boil sack (or something similar) from his diseased flesh, with the same impact as described above.
As for the higher initiative, make some disease up. Example, something thats similar to spasticity, but increases the musscle activity. Or something like Lou Gehrig's disease, except as mentioned before, increases the neuron activity.
I love the berzerker idea, and whilst I don't have any NM ideas, for the plague sons, you could say that they have all but died and are almost just corpses that are sustained by the diseases, barely capable of rational thought and just following the nearest prophet/lord/sorcerer of nurgle.
adamwelton "Bliss-giver is right as always."
"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."
Well I assumed the Plague Sons were still as mindfull as their PM brothers, just very slow. Il think on what you guys have said.
For the Noise marines I have though of one way around explaning why there faster than everyone elce, there so bloated and putrid that everyone in close proximity to them recoils out of sheer nausea and gag-reflex, the effect of which gives their attackers a moment of weakness that the marines can take full advantage of, and so strike befor all but the quickest of enamys.
They are effectivly so bloated and full of putrid fluids that the air is thick with their pestilent gasses. Even their weapons make use of these fluids.
As for the weapons:
Sonic Blaster, AKA 'Injectors' inspired by the Warmachine Cryx Leviathan Warjack, a giant syringe cannon, filled with their various virulent fluids.
Doom Siren, AKA 'Bile Spue' like I said erlyer the champion can just throw up on his enamy.
Blastmaster, AKA 'Plague Launcher' (Blast Shot) Blight Grenade Launcher, thanks for that suggestion btw. (Multi-Shot) Injector Ammunition.
To stick with your Nurgle base theme for your Noise Marines, multifaceted insect eyes and multiple antennae could represent their Initiative boost.
The Plague sons could have chitinous armor.

Noise Marines = Fevered Marines.
Plague Marines who have contracted a violent fever, which floods their bodies with adrenaline and makes them constantly fidgeting and paranoid. As a result their wild, jerky movements are highly unpredictable, giving them an edge in combat over all but the fastest of opponents. Most of these afflicted Marines have converted their bolters to better compensate for their illness (sonic Blasters), resulting in a bolter that has both a higher ammunition capacity and higher rate of fire, in order to allow said Marines to react faster to the threats their fevered and paranoid minds dream up.
With some of the more advanced cases, the additional side effect of increased acidic production from an infected Bletcher's Gland occurs. Some Marines will release this buildup mid-battle as a spew of acidic vomit (Doom Sirens), while others collect the excess buildup and use it as powerful grenades (Blastmasters).
