Just played in my Bi-weekly tournament again at my Gamestore in Town.
This Week the special addition to the tournament was that be for the tournament began the Owner picked three players at Random. Right be for each round began these players were told that they were picked. These players got to pick the deployment and the mission type. Not very special but random and fun lol. There was only 8 Players...1 grey knight,2 imperial guard, 1 tyranid, 2 space wolf, and 2 deamons (I was surprised to see another player).
The points value was 1750. The tyranid player was using a Genestealer Shock List...he was running somewhere around 60 genestealers AHHH. The Space Wolf players were running all comers, like three grey pack, 3 long fang packs, 3 landspeeders each(these two guys always have almost the same army..but they dont hangout outside of our club) and filling in the rest with characters and wolf Guard. 1 guardsmen had a Mech Spam Army, lots of chimeras and all the other cheap tanks with lots of Gunz, the other Guardsmen was running a Blob/Leman Russ spam army (he had 6 battle cannon Leman russ's, and three 20ish blobs and a couple of command squads and I think 3 autocannons and 3 Lazcannons). The Grey Knights player was running a w/e I have lying around army (He had 10 Terminators, 10 purifiers, two 10man strikesquads, 2 dreadnaughts, a warrior squad, and 2 Dreadnaughts. The other Deamons player was using pretty much one squad of everything lol.
The List I ran for the day was:
My First game was against the other Deamons Player:
We played objectives and didnt bother with asking about the deployment. I got First turn and dropped in my 3 Fiend Squads and my Three Chariots. After Turn one deployment for him I lost one fiend to Pink Horror shots. Turn 2 for me saw all my Fiends charging into his unis and obliterating 2 pink horror units, and a BloodThirster. I managed to drop in all three of pink horror units and they combined destroyed a bloodletter unit. Each turn after this I just mangled and support attacked each of his squads. It was over pretty fast I won with 1750 victory points, 11 kill points, and 3 objectives.
Second Game was against the Blob Guard. This was actually A little Scary for me because of his mass amount of Shooting and ability to cause auto hits with the LemanRuss's. But I have had a lot of practice against Blod guard from playing a good friend of mine who only used Foot DeathGuard. I gave him turn one...he moved up and took up Board space. I deepstruck all my Deamon Princes on the right side of the board as close to a blob as a could. I then Deployed all my Fiends behind them. I was lucky because I got my prefered wave of Fiends and Princes. His turn he wiped out a fiend unit and 1 deamon prince. My turn I charge two Blob's with Fiends and backed them up with Prince's. Once they were out of the way I could go to town on his LemanRuss's. After Grinding for a turn, I broke out of combat and then I piecemailed the rest of his army in a straight line down his side of the board with my princes and Fiends. I won the Game with 1565 Victory Points and `10 kill points and I had 1 objective.
My last game was against the GreyKnights player. His list wasnt as competitive or Brutal as a lot of Knights players out there..he has no DreadKnights or Librarians or Palladins...but all his units still have preferred enemy..and there is 40 Knights on the table...and he still has lots of psycannons and lots of storm bolters so of course I am still worried. The game was kill Points.
My First Turn I dropped in my Chariots and My Fiends and my Screamers. The Screamers were placed on top of a landing pad and no one could see them but they were about 10 inchs away from his double psycannon Dreadnaught YUMMY. My chariots killed some purifiers, and my fiends moved into cover to try and surive the hail of gunfire. On his turn he wiped out a Chariot, and a Fiend unit. He also wounded my other 2 Chariots, and put some Wounds on one of my other fiend units. My turn 2, My 2 Fiend units charged into his strikeKnights, my Chariots finished off his purifers and my screamers attacked his double psycannon dreadnaught. My Fiends failed to get any rending at all and stayed in combat. 2 Princes were deepstruck near his Terminators...I knew they wont last long with all his gunz but they are pretty much the only way I could wittle down the Terminators. His Turn, the terminators shot and killed a deamon prince, and his other Dreadnaught moved in to help his Strike Knights. The Strikeknights finished off one fiend unit and only lost one wound. His Other Strikeunit wasnt so lucky and lost 6 knights and failed their leadership and lost 2 more knights to armor checks, . My turn 3, my chariots, and my Pink Horrors shot at his strikesquad in the open and killed 4 knights. My Screamers went into combat with the Fiend to ensure that the Knights were finished off. My Deamon Prince charged his Terminators. The Strike unit Died and everyone reformed to face his dreadnaught. The Terminators finished off the Prince but lost 3 Terminators. His Turn 3, His Terminators shot the Fiend squad and made them dissapear. His Dreadnaught Moved and ran away from my screamers. My Turn 4, my Chariots/pink Horrors killed 2 Terminators, and my 3rd Prince deepstruck near the terminators. My Screamers caught the Dreadnaught and ate him. His Turn 4. The Terminators Shot and attacked the Prince and killed him. My Turn 5, my chariots/pink horrors killed another 2 terminators. His turn 5, his terminators shot and killed the last 3 screamers. Turn 6 did happen and my chariots/pink Horrors finished off his Terminators. He now had one unit of warriors that was hiding the whole game with an inquisitor in a tower in his corner...I did not mention them because he had done nothing with them because he did not want to give up an easy kill Point. Turn 7 did happen and my chariot in range up to shoot at them. The Chariot shot and killed one warrior, not enough to do anything. His turn 7 he shot at the Chariot and got a wound on him. End of Game.
Overall it was a great tournament. A lot of the more competitive players in the area did not show up today so I felt a little bad for brining the list that I did. But any win for the Deamons are worth it...even if it means spamming your units and being an evil person...I mean hey isnt that what playing Chaos is all about. I won all three of my games and I am proud of that. Sadly I did not place in 1rst or second because the Space Wolf player with Double Priest, triple long fang, triple Grey Hunter, triple landspeeder and a foot bloodclaw unit (for his Priests to walk around in) must of have gotten perfect scores without any loss because I had pretty solid scores on all of my Games. The Person who got Second came in Second with a tied score to mine, cept he had all of his models painted and finished his games faster.( He was the Mech Guard player) Humbug...Ill be back next month for their souls though
Great report and well done against the pesky grey knights.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Congrats on your wins. You might not have gotten 1st, but doing so well with daemons is pretty impressive. BTW, did your GK opponent cast Warp Quake at all?
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
Thanks for Replying MadCat and J2
My game against the Grey Knights was sort of a Flop for me...for the most part the guy knew the game but was not at the top of his skill with them yet. He did cast Warp quake but I was lucky and got the first turn. I deployed in a way that even if he moved in on me he would not be close enough...and with my of my stuff being fast I was not restricted in any way or sort of deployment even with his warpquakes turned on.
