It's a doubles tournament next Saturday. Each member of the team gets 1000 pts. I'm playing Tau, and my buddy is playing Khorne, we figure it's a pretty good combo. Do any of you have any suggestions? Tactics or unit choices? Especially for me, the Tau half.(He's played a whole lot more than I, so I figure he doesn't really need the advice)
Ok... first of all, why post on the chaos forum when you are tau? second, do you know what armies you are playing? if not...I must say i can't aggree with you more! I play word bearers(full of demons) and my friend does tau. If you don't know your opponents armies then it's best to bring an army for every occasion. You havnt told us what men you have, so i can't offer you specific advice, but some good tips are to make your friend act as a shield with a mass of bezerkers to be a distraction while you gun down anything big using rail guns. Get your fire warriors into a fortified position where they can get cover and don't die, but can delever heavy close punishment with a barrage of guns! I tend to find that if you aim every gun you have onto big things alone, they can still rush you and win with troops. Use your blast guns to kill off the troops (i suspect your friend can deal with those) while you kill off anything with an armour value. Good hunting!we figure it's a pretty good combo
FROM THE BOOK OF THE IMPERIUM:
1. Thou shalt not go on a panty raid in the Adaptus Soritus temple.
2. Thou shalt not flirt with Howling Banshees. They are the enemy.
3. Thou shalt not refer to Battle Sisters as Bolter Biatches
4. Darth Vader isn’t the son of Abaddon
5. Thou shalt not reassemble a Necron into a washing machine
I posted on Tau too, but I thought you Chaosy types would have a word. Anyway, I wish had more heavy support, really.
I would suggest you synch your playing together, when I say this I mean, don't let him assault a unit in your line of sight. Blocking line of sight to a tau army means destruction. I'm not sure what the rules are for the tourney, if you play your turns at the same time or one person goes first, but if you do get to pick who goes first, pick your army. Let your firewarriors/broadsides/hammerheads/etc weaken al the units down, and let the Khorne army assault the rest.
That would be my suggestion, if you have lists of what both of you will be playing, it would help much more.
Mad Props to Angel_of_Rust for the sig.
I play tau as well (not as much as chaos though! *cowers*).
Two 12 man teams of fire warriors with a shasel. xv8's armed with 2 gun drones, plasma rifles, missile pods and multitrackers should jump around cover at the front taking down smaller groups. 2 broadsides (separate) with gun/shield drones each should stand in corners and have the fws stand to one side with a multi tracker and railgun equipped hammerhead. The points left over should be able to equip a couple of suits to accompany the shasel, but don't forget the kroot. whilst not much is likely to get through the 'zerkers, the kroot will act as a speedbump to give you precious extra shooting time or they can gurad aginst infiltrator and deepstrikers. don't bother taking stealth suits or an aun they won't be needed thanks to the extra khorne protection.
Remember that mobility is very imporatant. use xv8 suits to prevent encirclement and to really annoy the opponents. Try to get cheered for *****ing off your opponent like this as you lead him astray into zerker/rapid fire range!
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
