In Codex Chaos Space Marines, it states that a unit bearing a mark of chaos counts as being favoured by its god if it numbers either the gods sacred number or an exact multiple of it.

What I want to know is why do people always go strictly for the sacred number? By the rules your Daemonettes count as being favoured if they number 6, 12 or 18. So what's going on?

If you want your deamonettes showing up on 2nd turn yes, if not, no. If you don't have bikers to deposit your demonettes in your opponent's lap on second turn having that magic number might not be a good idea.

The question is not why don't people use the sacred number, its why don't people use multiples, 12 daemonettes is more effective than 6 and still counts as being Favoured.

Mad Hatter, you do know that if you roll a 3 for a favoured daemon unit you do not have to bring them in. It specifically states that you may bring them in.

It's most likey one of the following reasons:
1: Too small of a battle/not enough points for big numbers
    2: Too much money
    3: Too much math involved

The third is absolutely true when you play Emperor's Children, especially when you want to equip them all with sonic blasters.

Good point Lurker. I can understand why WE players go for eight bloodletters in each pack, as they're expensive in points and quite survivable(compared to other daemons. Besides, a pack of sixteen is quite overkill...

With Slaanesh players, I really don't see why they often pick squads of six daemonettes. Six daemonettes will probably die from one round of shooting. If you bring twelve you can expect at least half to make it into combat.

Could you please tell me what exactly is so good about having a favoured number? what does it do? I looked in the codex and it just said that they became favoured by the gods, but does that have any effect on the rules? sorry if i sound a noob
FROM THE BOOK OF THE IMPERIUM:

    1. Thou shalt not go on a panty raid in the Adaptus Soritus temple.
    2. Thou shalt not flirt with Howling Banshees. They are the enemy.
    3. Thou shalt not refer to Battle Sisters as Bolter Biatches
    4. Darth Vader isn’t the son of Abaddon
    5. Thou shalt not reassemble a Necron into a washing machine

That's for Chaos Noise Marines/Plague Marines/Khorne Berserker's/Thousand Sons. Daemons get +1 to all Summoning rolls.
